Unless clubs start to reign in their stupid salaries and transfer fees I fear a lot more clubs will be in dire straits. Have to admit I did like it when PSG were beaten to the title by an unfashionable club. Hoping the same can be done in the PL. ( Come on the Toon )

I'd love the wages and demands of footballers to be capped in some way, can't see it happening any time soon, but the very mention of Football Agents makes my blood boil.

The best thing would be for Sky not to inject silly money into the game. Sure, a lot of the top parasites/professionals will move to other countries where the money is.

Frankly, I would rather that the Premier League would lose a lot of the stars and struggle more in Europe if we had a more honest down-to-earth game with players wanting to play for their clubs rather than the pay packet.

When I read that a top player from some foreign shore decides to come to the UK Football Circus on silly wages for a couple of years excites me far less than when I hear of a local lad making the grade for his team. I would rather a Chris Waddle coming up from the sausage factories and making the big time rather than the Messis being imported for a vast fee.

It's not a proper sport at the moment; it's just a massive WWE style marketing event. Like what's happening in East London at the moment; the sporting aspect seems to be an incidental part of it all.

I can't rep from the mobile app but that was a star post!

I agree with you entirely, as much as I like seeing top quality players in the league, I'd find much more joy in Sammy Ameobi scoring forvus that Luuk De Jong.

The amount of money in the league puts so much pressure on managers, there's little scope for 'risky' selections as the risk of relegation can financially cripple a club and in the current climate, lose a manager his job.

Surely if a manager is making 'risky' selections which ended up in relegation he'd deserve to lose his job?

Risks can pay off though. The pressure of losing £50m PL money forces managers to be unadventurous.
