Breakthrough Auction for Sir Bobby Over one hundred items will be go under the hammer in an online auction this weekend to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Stars from around the UK and beyond have joined forced to raise money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation's Breakthrough Fund. A whole host of sporting items, experiences and memorabilia have been donated for an exclusive online auction, which begins this Saturday (October 8) at www.sirbobbysbreakthroughauction.com. Organisers hope to raise around £250,000 and proceeds will be split between Breakthrough Breast Cancer and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, the charitable body set up by the legendary former England manager before his death in 2009 at the age of 76. The likes of Brazilian legend Pele and Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson have donated items, while Jose Mourinho - Sir Bobby's former protégé - has parted with an incredibly personal item - his Ballon D'Or World Coach of the Year trophy. Sunderland AFC have supported the campaign by supplying an executive box package for 10 for a forthcoming Barclays Premier League game and over 130 items will go under the hammer overall. The stunning campaign has won support around the world, with international luminaries such as Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola - one of Robson's successors in the Nou Camp hotseat - pledging their backing. "For us as a club and for myself it is an honour to participate and to have the opportunity to invite two persons to come and visit our training session, attend a game at our stadium and receive a signed shirt from our players," Guardiola said. "I encourage everybody in England and around the world to contribute in this and to fight against cancer by supporting Sir Bobby's Breakthrough Auction." Sir Bobby's son, Mark Robson, added: "We are hugely appreciative of every single individual or organisation which has donated something for the auction or offered their support. "My dad would have been so proud at the way everyone has pulled together by contributing such incredible prizes."
