I've had a feeling this lad will end up going elsewhere, although if he was set on a move to England I would hope he would choose us over the Swans. http://www.themag.co.uk/the-mag-art...meyang-reveals-which-clubs-he-is-talking-to/? With Newcastle United announcing that Andy Carroll was not an intended summer target, a number of journalists claimed they had information that Pierre-Emierick Aubameyang was Newcastle Unitedâs number one target. Back in January St Etienne were forced to release a statement following speculation of a move to Newcastle, saying Aubameyang was staying at least until the end of the season . Subsequently it was revealed that the club will reluctantly allow the player to leave this summer. Where will he go though? Well, the player himself has been talking about his options and this is what he has had to say; âI have met with Rudi Voller (Sporting Director of Bayer Leverkusen) twice but whether or not St.Etienne accept the (Leverkusenâs) offer is a different matter. Dortmund have been following me for more than a year now (though Aubameyang confirms they havenât made an offer yet but have told him that they are still interested). I have met with Michael Laudrup and they (Swansea) have a good project but I need Champions League to progress.â Newcastle have done well to keep their interest quiet, even Aubameyang doesnât know about it!
It's a shame as he looks an extremely good player. Hope we have something special lined up if we aren't even considering PEA.
He wants CL, so he was never coming regardless if we had a good or bad season. Just pitching a bit above our level, just the way it goes.
Think the club can be defended here. We lodged two formal bids at a time when we could have got him. Since then he just got better and better, so understand that he now wants to aim higher.
I reckon enough at the time; he had a storming end of season. Probably sh*tting his pants at the prospect of joining the Toon if he didn't pull his socks up.
