I know that we have been linked to every player in the world over the last few days, but i am not surprised at the lack of noise coming from HQ. Knowing that MH prides himself on his attention to detail with every aspect of his management, I would be very surprised if TF/MH have not got most of their planning already done. I would also expect that we will conduct our business quickly and away from the media. Thoughts?
I would imagine most of the speculation so far to be nonsense and that you're right about it all going on behind the scenes. Also it wouldn't be smart to go mad in the transfer Market this early, as when the 25 man squads are named there will be a lot of surplus talent up for grabs and a fraction of the price that they might be available for today.
We cant leave it too late as we just have to look what happened last time. We need it done bar 1 or 2 by the time pre season starts.
Just opened a similar thread, ha, I was sharing your optimism and belief however the Diakite and Taiwo news has definitely unsettled me!
Absolutely NUTS. The professionalism that was brought to this club with Mark Hughes is something we have to get used to, especially after all the Paladini years we have behind us with tons of leaks.
This professionalim is exactly why I can't understand the hysterical reaction by some posters about potential transfer fees, wages and age of players, as if their own money was being spent. Sparky and Rigg know what they are doing, will have a budget for both transfers and salaries. Leave them to it, they have to live with the consequences.
i think most of the stories have been the players agents pimping their clients to come to us. I hope thats why weve been linked to awful has beens like Johnson instead of exciting signings.
Yep, and we either trust them or tear our hair out all summer. I plan to relax a bit. MH has already said he will buy before he starts selling, so I predict lots of gnashing of teeth and agnosing about the size of the wage bill until the exits start. Still mystified by Dyer though.
I am pretty sure we will see 2-3 pretty decent players come in quickly and then he might wait until later to try and pick up a bargain or two. TF is a businessman and he will not waste money on silly signings. I do not expect us to be buying too many players for anything above the 5 million mark, as we simply can't afford it, especially on players who would have no resale value due to age at the end of a 3-4 year contract. Getting Barton and SWP off the wage bill would really free up massive cash for wages. Now, that would be a stroke of genius.
We need a goalie urgently and also a CB, after that its not quite as important to strengthen other area. i wouldnt want our goalie to be the best of what was left, I want a top class keeper as they are so important.
Think we all are mate. Although the way we're all going on about MH's insight and meticulous planning, chances are Dyer will be an ever-present in our starting line-up next season, win Player of the Year and then go on to restore world peace single-handedly...
