Saturday was the first time I've been seated in the "Strawberry Corner" bit of St James - not in my usual season ticket spot closer to the other Gallowgate corner.

I have to say, the Atmosphere was brilliant there. I know, given the opponents and how good the game was, it was one of those games the whole stadium was rocking, but I did feel there was a massive difference in Strawberry corner, and made me wonder why we don't have more "singing" sections like that in the ground.

Understand that not every fan wants to stand, sing and dance all game, but a few more areas of the ground like this would surely get the Atmosphere back to the good old days before level 7 was built and ruined the atmosphere. So why don't more fans do it?.... thoughts?

Even after L7 was built the stadium used to be bouncing. I used to love standing it the L7 corner!!

Singing was much better then, before the fans were moved over to the Gallowgate. They were more in harmony with each other and always outsang the the away fans. Not quite the same now and I'm afraid it takes away from the atmosphere.

MA and DL messed up there in my opinion.

Last two times l have been at SJP it's been really quiet, possibly due to the fact there was nothing much to shout or sing about. But even though l only saw the Chelsea match on television, you could really feel the atmosphere. It was amazing and must have been so brilliant for those who were lucky enough to be there.
Long may it continue, next up in March for the Stoke game and hopefully by then we will be safe and playing the kind of football you can get passionate about.

Must admit, it is pretty quiet where I sit (corporate seats). I don't find it easy to keep my gob shut at the football. Its just automatic but singing or even shouting at players/refs is just met with glares. I took my missus when we had no clients to take and she commented afterwards "when you told that player to 'get that into him', people were horrified" I miss sitting elsewhere, and I miss standing in the Gallowgate/Milburn Paddocks even more.

Wouldn't dream of letting you get a drink in, it'll be a cheap day for you. Apart from your ticket and travel that is.

Actually going to make the most of this trip AB, Hubby and l are driving up the Thursday before the game and are going to stay in some of the lovely country B&B's in Northumberland and see some more of the coast and work our way back to Newcastle for the game and then home.
Really looking forward to it. Hubby is born and bred Manchester and was really impressed when we went to Tynemouth, Cullercoats and Whitley Bay, especially Tynemouth and the Long Sands. I am not sure what he was expecting really as l had told him it was beautiful along the coast. Perhaps he thought it was all coal heaps and empty ship yards ?

How long do you reckon it'll take you to drive up?

Warkworth and Bamburgh are two places you'll have to take him if he hasn't been before. Not as good as it is in Spring and Summer but still worth a visit.

Really depends on traffic etc, but can take about five hours. The way the team were playing recently l think he was looking forwards to the sightseeing more than the match, but given he has had the luxury of seeing his team win week in and week out, even he thought we were exceptional against Chelsea.
Happily he is now more optimistic that we might see some decent football as well as some stunning scenery. Personally l think he is secretly pissed that we signed Sissoko who has impressed him, even though he hates to admit it. Lol
