Why don't Arsenal fans get behind their team like United, Liverpool, West Ham, ......., Stoke fans do?

The game against United recently was a case in point - Arsenal had an outside chance of the title, but also needed the points in the battle for 3rd. But throughout the match it was very subdued.

It isn't that long since Roy Keane complained about the prawn sandwich brigade at OT, and even Fergie remaorked about the atmosphere at Anfield compared to United. But over the last few season the crowd at OT really do get behind their team.

I think this does affect the players, and it encourages the opposition. The fans need to play their part and be the fabled 12th man.

I've been to EMirates a few times and there does seem to be an inhibited sort that goes there - no one shouts encouragement or starts singing. Just about the only song that gets everyone going is "Stand Up if you hate Tottenham".

I agree in part. It comes a lot down to people going there and moaning about the atmosphere instead of singing. I think a few of the "Arsenalisation" features have helped. I really like the wrap around the stadium, perhaps there should be more of that kind of thing inside it. I think they've added a cannon to the seats which is cool and the old clock has been added. Don't forget the marble halls of Highbury. Things like that make people belong. That and memories.

No trophies have been won at that stadium, but the memories are building. People will go to the Emirates and remember the victories over United, Chelsea and the all important Barcelona. They will also remember the most intimate moment when Eduardo scored against us and we applauded him. They will remember the 14 second Fabregas goal against Tottenham last season and they will remember all the good times we've had here. I think as these things build people will feel more of a connection with the stadium and they will be louder. Until then, all you can do is play your part and be as loud as you can.

Having said that, I reckon you'd be hard pushed to beat the atmosphere against Barcelona. Especially after we scored.

I went to a game as a neutral last year. Orient replay, I was astounded by the crowd and I was in the Arsenal end. It was a pretty one-sided affair but there was just gentle clapping when each goal went in and the odd obscene chant by a group of about 50 neanderthals mainly aimed at Tottenhams heritage. Hardly the twelve man.

Sadly that is true, we rarely back the team throughout a match. However we are by no mens alone in having this problem

Completely untrue, Barcelona have some of the worst fans in the world. They only ever make noise against Madrid and in big games. No way are their fans better than ours.

You get shouted down because generally your opinions are stupid, not thought out and deconstructive. Its you that has the problem.

Well you would think that because everyone who disagrees with you are idiots aren't they? I still think Wenger deserves more time but that doesn't mean I blindly put my faith in him. Not everyone is as narrow minded as you are.
