Loads of City fans have complained about the atmosphere at Liverpool.

There wasn't any atmosphere at Anfield, a desperately quiet home crowd, joined by a desperately quiet away crowd by the time we were three down.

On MOTD when they had their first penalty you could see behind the goal the segregation point with Liverpool fans on the right standing and willing the ball into the net and to the left City fans sat down with the odd one waving arms about to put Milner off but whilst still sat down. The usual complaints about the City crowd at Anfield were evident on Twitter too.

Yet on the Hull City fans forum they are all saying how good the atmosphere was from the City fans and how Liverpool fans were praising them for sticking with the club and singing to the end.

Plenty of away end singing in the last fifteen minutes once the shell shock had eased. And a rousing rendition of happy birthday to you dedicated to Mike Phelan. He enjoyed that.

So a neutral would think you couldn't get more entertainment than you did at Rovers game but Liverpool's game was average?

Was talking with a Wednesday fan about football in the pub. Another bloke overheard us talking about,
never asked where he was from, and said he was working up here on a building project and his boss had invited him to a corporate do at the Arsenal game. Said he stopped going to football a while ago, fell out of love with the modern game, but he did comment that he was amazed at how quiet City fans were.
Needless to say in the HDM there was someone moaning that his enjoyment was spoiot as he had to leave early as his mate had a problem standing and people further down were standing. Amazing how many times we hear this.Presumably other clubs only take physically fit to away games, no of people, no traumatised kids, as the fans of other clubs all seem to stand with no problem and without their own fans causing problems by complaining about those standing.
The West Ham fans are up in arms at being made to sit by the stewards whilst away fans are left alone to stand all game. You wouldn't think that would ever happen, do you,. Also complaining that the newcomers are mixed amongst long term fans and are telling long term fans that they have paid for a seat so they must sit down so that they can sit and quietly observe what is going on. Hard to credit that could happen after a move to a new stadium.

You tend to get a different demographic at the London games, Manchester games and Liverpool, you don't tend to get people asking you to sit down at the likes of Burnley and Stoke, where the support tends to be much better.

At Anfield, there was a ridiculous game of cat and mouse going on with the stewards, who spent the entire first half trying to get us to sit down.

As Al says, it picked up at the end of the game, as we'd resigned ourselves to the tonking and we took to taking the piss out of how **** the Liverpool support was. The Happy Birthday song to Phelan was the loudest chant of the day and pretty much the highlight of the game.

Is it a case of a rugby league reporter always doing his little bit to promote the sport? Gwillum Lloyd seems to feel he has to take it upon himself to proselytise the sport.

To be fair the Rovers V Huddersfield game was far more entertaining, with so much on the line, a massive come back and then a crucial drop goal at the end it was much better than a a one-sided thrashing that was over after half an hour.

What are the odds they sort it in the next few months though, I mean it couldn't possibly still be happening 14 years after the move!

Yes, we get "supporters" at games like Liverpool where fans are more interested in being able to see the Liverpool stars. Some must have been gutted there was no Stevie G. I wonder why we have stewards at Liverpool and other places, telling us to sit down when other clubs' fans are left alone. Never seen Newcastle , West Ham, Man Utd, Liverpool and most others, right down to TWS fans being made to sit down or many, if any, mofbtgepir fans doing so.Maybe word has got around we are an easy number to exert their authority on as we don't stick together whereas fans of other clubs would ignore them and carry on standing up.even the likes of Arsenal all stand at Anfield,,and elswhere
They seem to be getting a bit keener at making people sit down at Anfield. Maybe because the objections to the introduction of safe standing by Liverpool supporters groups look a bit daft when thousands of them are stood up at every home game.

I am talking about neutrals. I am sure neutrals would have rated the Liverpool game higher than that.

Man United fans all stand at every game, so get treated differently to other clubs in the Premier League, as most grounds give them a reduced allocation (including us). Other than that, I think all clubs are treated the same.

The rugby must be riveting when every decision goes to the video ref. Loads of players fall in pile near the line and everyone has to wait three or four minutes before someone watching on a television screen decides if it's a try or not.
Surprised with tension like that at every decision there wasn't 50,000 watching Rovers. What was the crowd by the way for the action packed encounter ?

They could if their owners show as much interest in their fans and just regard them as customers as ours do.
The owners, and Karenn Brady seemed to on the ball previously but now seem more intent on attracting spectators rather than supporters. They will get plenty of tourist type fans being in London but the atmosphere will go as those types increase as the long term and "proper" football type fans get fed up and walk away and the gentrification of football will march on.
Glad I first went to football in the early 1960s, Though it has cost me a lot of time and money which it wouldn't have now as the "match day experience" these days wouldn't have got me hooked the way it did then..

Amazingly in the FC game the first two tries didn't go to the video ref. Don't know if there was a hat trick of such brave refereeing as I switched over.

Never see West Ham, Newcastle, the others I mentioned and plenty I didn't sitting down. There have been complaints that various grounds have seen the stewards enforcing sitting with us, (whilst ignoring home fans standing, the opposite of what used to happen at the KC) yet they haven't done this with other fans. Spurs just one example, fans complaining about heavy handed stewarding but watching other games that season away fans were all stood up.
As .I said, word will get around about which clubs are an easy target to throw your weight about with and which aren't.

Go on other clubs boards, they all complain about getting the same treatment as we do. At Anfield, it's not limited to the away fans either, there's loads of articles online about the stewards trying to get them all to sit down in the Kop.
