I went to a cash point machine near my work this morning intending to take out £250, punched the amount and and it said i had to use multiples of £20s so i put in £240. The machine made the usual whirring noise, i then stood there awaiting my money, it spat my card out then went back to the standard Insert card screen, i then tried again and it said i had reached my daily limit but the money had been deducted from my account.. I am going to Santander tomorrow and freaking out....
I read the Guardian money pages on a Saturday (sad, eh?), including an advice section. Complaints about Santander come up every single week, without fail.
Happened to me about 8 years ago, the Barclays ATM had extra money when they changed it and it got put back in my account. I am going to go absolutely ****ing ape **** if i don`t get my money back ..
None whatsoever imo. They said the money had been taken out of the account, wouldn't believe the 'Your ****ing machine just screwed me over, ****s' line I was going with.
Thing that pisses me off more is...a few times in the past I've had a mini-buying blitz, records/DVDs from Amazon and ebay and no more than 10 purchases. Barclays anti-fraud team pick up on this and have stopped my cards without bothering to contact me. So one monday morning on the way to work I stopped for petrol. Business card and personal card were refused. You'd think they'd give you a ring and check.
The machine keeps a log of the money it has given out. Demand they count it at the end of the day and if it logs your money as being given out but it hasn't actually, the money in the machine should be up by that amount and they should credit it back to your account
