Now that we're officially in the Europa League is anyone else bricking it ahead of Thursday night?!? Considering how easy Sion disposed of us how the hell are we going to come away from Spain with a result? Who plays at centre back alongside K Wilson? Mulgrew? Wanyama? At least the big Swedish meatball is suspended. Is Loovens fit yet? Are we going to go one up front with Samaras? If so, I could cry.
I think it will be Samaras up front himself. After Saturday, I'd start Matthews at Right Back in full confidence. I reckon it'll be Mulgrew to start at CB - hope he doesn't get roasted.
Disagree with how easy Sion disposed of us , we were the better team at home despite missing our 4 best players. In Sion despite playing the whole game with ten men I thought we put in a good display , losing the third goal chasing the game.Nothing to lose now , lets go for it
Loovens qwas a sub on saturday so guess hes nearing fitness Lenny seemed to prefer Loovens with Wilson in preseason Id personally go with Rogne if fit
hurdy bork chicky licky please log in to view this image I'm sure my coat is around here somewhere...
Christ Tam, I apologise if that's the case. The last thing you need to see when you're tripping is the Swedish Chef.
I think Loovens n Wilson look a good partnership... Loovens probbaly needs someone like Wilson to keep him steady
I'm in 2 minds as to what we should do. We'll probably be chasing the ball for 90 bastard minutes & be ****ing knackered for Sunday - league has to be priority. Then again they've lost Forlan & Aguero & Falcao is yet to score for them.......plus they've done their homework on Sion & not us (clutching at straws I know). You think our key players can play both?
Simply put NO, playing a Europa League game running after Athletico for 90 mins until 10pm then catching a 2 hour flight to Glasgow in time to face Rangers will be too much have a look at most teams after they play a european game, the domestic form goes right out of the window including us last season.
Thats kind of my thinking, but I can't see us resting too many key players after all the fuss of getting back in the Europa! We have a decent enough squad to mix it up abit, the likes of Matthews, Wilson & Cha have all played decent at fullback - Forrest was immense the weekend replacing Brown & leaving Commons & McCourt on the bench so there is enough depth to perform admirably in both games but Ki, Kayal, K Wilson & Hooper will need to play both games. Team for Thursday: Forster Matthews K. Wilson Mulgrew El Kaddouri Brown Ki Kayal Ledley Commons Hooper (sub after 60/70) Team for Sunday: Forster Wilson K Wilson Loovens Mulgrew Forrest Ki Kayal Ledley Hooper Stokes
is el kaddouri eligible? also with Brown struggling i would not play him but instead play forrest. expect to see a certain greek ****er start both in spain and at the pox on sunday. Stokes also struggling according to the sun
Brown and Stokes are out. Can't see Lennon throwing Bangura in. Sammy and Hooper doesn't work. I can see us starting with Samaras up front on his own.
Atletico's front three will be Reyes, Adrian (won the golden boot at the U21 Euros) and £35mil Falcao - we're undecided who our Centre Halves are, our captain and top scorer are out, we only knew for certain that we'd play this game yesterday... ...it's got a pasting written all over it. I think this might actually work in our advantage. Atletico will know all of this and I hope they think they'll get an easy ride and find a Kayal-shaped dervish hounding them all over the midfield. Bizarrely, I'm now pretty hopeful - we've got nothing to lose
