Atletico Madrid's sporting director has said the club are "counting on" Toby Alderweireld for next season. The defender is currently on loan at Saints, but his future is uncertain beyond the end of the campaign. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...o__counting_on__Alderweireld_for_next_season/
That seems easier to take than a move to one of our rivals. Maybe we can get him back in 12 months on a permanent if things don't work out again. Maybe AM are just trying to get rid of the arranged move fee........oh you little sceptic HR.
If he's offered first choice at AM, he'd gratefully take that, he's always said how much he enjoyed it there, just wanted/needed more game time.
http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/alderweireld-has-atletico-future-caminero FourFourTwo's version....seems unequivocal, though I suspect everything is negotiable. However I think Toby see's Atletico as unfinished business, so we may have to start looking forward to seeing who is next on Les's list. .
What a player. What a professional. If he returns to Madrid, he goes with a really big thank you from me. If he stays I will be beyond delighted.
Bloody typical...top player who was making all the right noises he was happy to stay here....unlike Schneiderlin and Clyne.
They're hardly going to say "Nah we don't really rate them. That's why we punted them out on loan" are they? I believe we (and every other football club ever) have said the same about all of their loaned players.
