We've heard that provisional discussions have been held between Warnock and the Board about plans for next year and no doubt players/budgets would have featured. They all clearly think alot of Warnock a) to bring him here to sort us out in the first place and, b) for the outstanding job he has done this year.

So at what point, if any, will the Board say NO to Neil about a player he wants or a figure he wants to spend?

I'd imagine that transfer and wage budgets have been discussed and NW will have to keep within that. It is the only sensible approach.

Warnock's clearly comfortable competing on a tight budget, it's all he's ever known and he's had reasonable success doing it. I reckon that's why Amit Bhatia moved in for him when he did.

The Mittals were pretty detatched at first but even the man himself is starting to show interest! He's reported as saying the club wasn't ready for the big time a year ago but is now...

The signs are that they will invest what it takes to make the club competitive on the park and solvent in the medium term. I think they'll buy one or two old heads and spend a lot of time studying the form and working out which younger squad players at the big clubs would be more likely to cut it at Rangers: players who can be developed Taarabt-style into well profitable assets.

Can't see either party throwing good money after bad - they'll gamble on some standard premiership stock - but not with Abramovich-style silly money. With what they've been saying and doing this week, should be almost as interesting as match day from a spectators point of view...

It's going to be interesting to say the least. These are without doubt top, & very successful businessmen, but, they are not football people.

So I assume it will be down to NW to identify possible transfer targets, & the board to negotiate a deal.

The challenge as I see it is that they are going to want to spend enough on players to keep us in the Premier league, as I'm sure they are not going to want us to go straight back down again. But on the other hand not throw ridiculous amounts of money at it.

I'm absolutely certain that a budget has already been set for summer signings. Personally I can't wait for August to arrive!

can't for the 3 points hoops eternal!, yes all going well will be exciting summer of transfers & speculations which has already started, but be a bit careful here as last time spent loads on wages etc & ended up in administration & don't want that again, we will linked with these high profile names & can't see problem with fee's only wages which we don't want to be draw into & pay high amounts then go it goes tits up.

As per the recent article in the Evening Standard the Mittals have said that they are enthusiastic about the club and the underlying buisness but they went out of their way to say they are not 'passionate' like Abramovitch. To my mind that means there will be cash to spend as an investment but certainly no money-no-object acquisitions such as Drogbha, Lampard, Terry and co. Warnock will have to build a team with a common sense approach. Hopefully this will take us on a similar route to Spurs in recent years although quite where our home grown talent is coming from is anyone's guess...
