    Mark Allison, AKA ‘Run Geordie Run.

    The more eagle eyed will recall that Mark has been one of our past local achievers but when you read of his next adventure you will see just why he undoubtedly qualifies once again.

    Here is a reminder of Mark’s achievements so far;

    In the Summer of 2007, Mark Allison (AKA Run Geordie Run) ran 874 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End in 37 days raising £34,108 for St Benedict's Hospice (Charity No. 1019410). This Hospice cared for his Mam during her final days battling lung cancer.

    Continuing to repay the debt of gratitude to the Hospice in May - August 2011, Mark ran from California to New York in 100 days. (Pictured finishing above). This was a distance of 3100 miles and saw him run an average daily mileage of 31 miles raising £105,233 for St Benedict's Hospice and The Children's Foundation.

    The latest adventure will see Run Geordie begin his journey across Australia from Perth to Sydney on October 16th 2013, arriving on Bondi Beach on December 24th 2013.

    All funds raised for the run across Australia are split between The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation (Charity No. 1057213) and The Children's Foundation (Charity No. 1000013) who do wonderful work with children in our region.

    We offer our very best wishes to Mark on his latest charity fundraising endeavours and if you would like to help, there are all kinds of weird and wonderful ways that you can give support for such a great cause – simply visit www.rungeordierun.com to find out more.

    As part of our show of support, the Trust has also paid for two tickets to the Newcastle v Southampton match and Mark has nominated Graham Leslie to attend the match, Graham is one of the many great volunteers who help behind the scenes with ‘Run Geordie Run’.

    I hope everybody in the ground will give the guy a good hand. He deserves it.

    I know him. We also use the same podiatrist in Jesmond.

    He used to train by getting dropped of in Edinburgh and running back to Consett over a weekend.. Serious hardcore.

    A top bloke.
