2015 has been an up and down year but we are doing the business at the right time and getting results. An excellent day around the Championship today with other teams dropping points and top six is firmly in our hands now. Mick is experienced enough to know when to keep it tight and when to go for it as he showed with his starting eleven today so credit where it's due. Freddie is like our new Marcus Stewart, bought in January and he really has been the difference in the games this year, what with Murph blowing hot and cold. I can't see anybody outscoring Daryl now so we also have the leagues top scorer in blue and white colours, I hope. Anybody doubt that we can finish in the play offs now?
Indeed, Sears has made a massive difference, and for £100k, we got our hands on a relative bargain. Impressed with Berra, Parr, Skuse, and Bishop also showed some flashes of potential and made some intelligent passes. As for the play offs, I think the three point buffer could well make the difference. However, our form in televised fixtures this year has been pretty awful, and if we lose against Wolves then it's really going to be game on in the last two matches. If we get something away at Wolves, even a point, then I think we should be alright securing sixth place (touch wood).
Come away from Wolves on Saturday unbeaten then one win from the last two games may well be just about enough...our goal difference ATM is better than Wolves and Brentford so theoretically worth an extra point!
It's all coming together nicely now, pity our mid season slump lasted so long, but it's firmly in our hands and from now on every game could see us secure play-offs. Winning at Wolves would effectively knock them out of the running. We ask Bolton to finish the job against Brentford.
What I ask myself is why did Colchester let Freddie leave and why so cheaply! They are Relegation certainties and you can put this down to them missing Freddie. He has been superb for us but I do wonder why they let him go in the first place.
Warky, Sears' contract was up in the summer of 2015, so it looks like Colchester's 'logic' was that they'd prefer to make a profit. However, Colchester look like they'll probably go down now (although they have an admirable knack of narrowly avoiding relegation). They signed Sears on a free, so they wouldn't be losing cash by letting him go on a Bosman at the end of the season. His goals could also have kept Colchester up, considering he was their top scorer when he left and none of their players have hit double figures in the league yet. While £100k is the rumoured fee, the deal was undisclosed so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some stipulations depending on games played or goals scored. You'd also think there would also be a percentage on any future transfer too.
wouldn't surprise me if there was something in there about a bonus if we got promoted. anyway, he is an absolute god send, just proves that you must never judge a player on his transfer fee!
