McInnes has said Cunningham has suffered severe ligament damage and does not know how long he'll be out for, but a few weeks is the very least, skuse has a punctured leg, 2 stud marks and we're hoping its not a fractured ankle. Amazing how you can be pissed off at the end of a well deserved win!
 
Too right Shiny........put a real downer on the night, especialy hearing that GC was having gas/air pain relief and on a stretcher. Hope they are both ok, but I fear long lay-offs for them.
Sounds like the Leona Lewis stunt double done his cruciate last night as well.....ouch!
 
I'm gutted for Cunningham as he has been the perfect replacement since he joined. If it is ligament damage I'd not be surprised if he were out for a few months in order to truly be ready to return.

In an ideal world we'd have a replacement for him, but I can see McInnes dipping into the loan market for someone to fill in until January. That'll suck because the loan market is where we'll find the central defender and central midfielder we'd also like.
 
foster and wilson can play rb and left back, its when one of the gets injured is the problem, could put Carey at rb or fonts at lb but that will disturb them, doubt we will be seeing Cunningham this side of Christmas
 
The first booking last night brought an angry reaction from some City players - from the video difficult to see if it warranted a red card.
But the second one from the Barnett was a bloody disgrace. How the referee did not see this as a straight red is beyond me.
I go back to the late 50's when there were some real hard men playing the game but it always seemed to me that the game was always played in a better spirit than today. Perhaps as a youngster I was naive, but some challenges today appear to be just deliberate attempts to cripple opposition players.
Having grown up with the John Atyeo code of conduct, if I was a manager of a player like Tyrone Barrett, I would never play him again. Will Darren Ferguson do the same as I would or will he condone such brutal behaviour by picking him again?
I'm just very sad that we will be denied the talents of a very exciting Greg Cunningham for possibly three or more months and disgusted that such trash as Barrett gets away with it!
 
According to most pundits at least one of the tackles deserved a straight red card but unfortunately it would have been after the damage had already been inflicted. The only positive factor could have been a better score in our favour which really is a negative way to consider the offence(s).

We now have to face the short term, or longer possibly, without key players who were contributing to our long term rebuilding programme so we end up carrying the burden of tackilng that belongs back in the "Norm will bite your legs" era. Let's just hope that the 2 players hurt during this match will recover quicker than seems to be the case and we can return to our full squad.

Speedy recovery lads and all the boys in the 606 section are wishing you both well.

I doubt you would ever have seen the great Norman Hunter, or for that matter Gerry Gow try to end a player's career like that. It was closer to Kean's tackling. Hunter would have given you a thick ear but would have earned your respect also
 
Totally agree BRR. The real hard men of football from any previous era could take it as well as dish it out. And usually at the end of a game they walked off with their opponent and shared a beer or three in the players bar. And looked forward to the next time.
Tackles like the two from Peterboro's Little and Barnett are the tackles made by cowards who would start crying if someone did it to them. The one on Cunningham reminded me very much of the one by McMordie of Middlesboro that ended Gerry Sharpe's career in the 70's. Mean, viscious and as stated before, a cowards attack.
I suggest both Peterboro players find an excuse not to play in the return match because they might not be able to stand the vitriol some of our more vociferous fans may direct at them.
 
But what is the game coming to when taking your shirt off or celebrating in an over excitable way you earns a yellow card and GBH gets the same punishment ?

A joke, but as Cidered Abroad says I would also suggest that these two poor excuses for sportsmen dont partake in the return fixture at our place
 
Is there going to any follow up to these injury causing tackles and crap refereeing because some sort of action should be taken....<grr>
 
Do the Football League have any sort of review of the colour of card issued by a referee?
Big problem compared with Premier league games is that there is only one camera at most Championship games as opposed to multi camera and therefore multi angle video.
Darren Ferguson is reported as saying he thought they could have been red cards. BUT I would bet my house that he plays both Little and Barnett tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!1

Exactly, Hunter may have been a tenacious tackler but always went in with the sole aim of winning the ball fair and square.
 
Message to BRR. I was just using the Norman Hunter era as an example of when that sort of thing went on and not as a criticism of a player who may have tackled hard but someone you also respected as a player. The players who went about the business of crippling other's careers would never get a second thought from Norm in the respect department.

Thanks angelic for adding your afterthought on the man.
