Itv has 130 on line, Charlton Get a life has about the same and I guess this site will make up it up to 300, all trying to outdo each other's bollocks with their supposed insider knowledge of a takeover. The last few days have been a compete embarrassment to be a Charlton fan, some people have really shown their true colours which in the case of many of them has been brown. You have only have to read some of the crap that has been posted on the itv and get a life sites to know this club should never be handed over to the fans. I can count the sensible posters on the fingers of one Charlton life fans hand and I have counted six decent posters who are rational and reasonable on both of the above sites. It was one of the most depressing reading experiences ever digesting their respective views on the takeover threads, it was like a a ten hour Jeremy Kyle marathon. I hope that they never close the itv or CL sites and they park their bickerton bikes and Renault clios over here it will be like the having Simon Cowell move in on one side of you and Charlie the chav on the other.
Rumour has it that it is the dream ticket. Bates and Ridsdale taking over. Flogging the Valley for housing and taking you back to Crippled Alice. Powell is going to be shown the door as they have their own man to manage the club. One Neil Warnock. Enjoy.
Why criticise the fans who have to go along to the Valley and watch us capitulate regularly to average Championship teams? Coming to the Valley is like taking candy from a baby, and it's no wonder our fans are mentally unhinged. I know I am.
No point speculating about the unknown, all will be revealed when something actually happens. The predictable will continue to post in a predictable fashion.
With the stories being published only in 2 papers - and at different times, it is clear they were planted. That was my initial concern regarding it and why I couldn't get too excited. The second reason being that this is Charlton. Though I think the board have done a decent job, they clearly want to sell and are withdrawing investment in the playing side. It does seem best that both parties divide ASAP. If only it was that easy though.
Agree, the whole takeover saga has become more tedious than the Sunday omnibus of EastEnders. I stopped posting on all 3 sites about the non takeover a week ago. I am more interested in how on earth Richard Murray managed to get a standing ovation at the fans dinner on Sunday evening. Is that what you get these days for leaving a Club on its arse
Murray did promise his daughter that the £,000,000 he was putting into Charlton about 3 years ago wouldn't be 'pissed up a wall'................... turns out it was 'pissed up a wall'........ reminds me of the George Best quote Great great man.... RIP Georgie
At least 300 people on line right now that think they know that their hypocrisies will not come to light, but on the contrary my dear old knee jerkers, they do, and no amount of editing & deleting of posts can hide the fact. Apart from the predictable hypocritical nonsense on all forums, there seems to be a lot of people playing a game one-upmanship. "I'm a better supporter than you... I know more than you... My source says na na na na naa." Like that. My main hope is to hear news about a proper takeover, because we're never going to achieve anything really worthwhile with our present mob, and I will absorb every bit of news if & when it happens... In the meantime I take all existing takeover threads with a large pinch of chilli... As for Murray's ovation... Are you really surprised Vol..? You didn't really believe they were going to bite the hand that feeds them the lamb shank, did you..?
This is going to sound bad, but I find the whole takeover saga a tad boring. I also find the CAST stuff rather tedious, and, to be honest, I just don't bother reading it anymore. No amount of fan input is going to change the future of the club, the manager, the players and the stadium, so why not get on with the football and leave all the messy stuff to men in suits. If it comes to staff not being paid, that is a different matter, but my friend in the ticket office assured me he was paid, so I move on from worrying about it - for now, at least. Tonight's match at Reading is all I care about.
I had to make a decision on whether to head to Reading this evening or down to Yeovil on Saturday. In the end, I plumped for Somerset; the chance to take some dawn photos of Corfe Castle was just too tantalizing. A bed and breakfast in Wareham is now booked.
Won't be able to make tonight, or Yeovil. Can't think of the last time I missed 4 games on the bounce :s
Perhaps, unconsciously, it is the brand of football being served up that is holding you back... All these other 'prior engagements' are a figment of your imagination, methinks.
