Thoughts on team selection etc? Personally think we will win comfortably, there's no way Villa will have it in them to put in two great performances in a matter of days and the win against Arsenal now means they've already got more points than they were expecting and I think Lambert will see it like that. Benteke and Agbonlahor running at Cahill is destined for disaster so I'm hoping Luiz comes in for him. I'd feel confident with JT and Luiz at CB, or even Ivanovic. We could do with Azpi as well. I think Lukaku, MVG and Mata will also feature.
I see it the same way as well. He'd have been happy with 1 point from 2 games let alone 3 already. I reckon we might see: Cech - Azpillicueta - Cahill - Terry - Cole - Van Ginkel - Ramires - Schurrle - Mata - Hazard - Lukaku
I'd go with that except Cahill, swop him for Ivan and it's a yes from me. (Benteke needs to be muscled out of it.)
I'd go with that. I thought it was odd and risky that Jose had no defenders on the bench yesterday. I guess Essien could have gone to rb and Ivan to cb if needed but still a bit risky.
It's probably why Cahill was in there in the first place, cant see him getting too much playing time once all are fit, he can be good against smaller faster opposition, but the more powerful attackers seem to bully him and he ends up giving too many fouls away.
Him against RVP will be a nightmare. That said he can be world class on his day. Maybe Mourinho can sort him out.
Think you are right. Cahill has looked excellent at various times, then puts in a run of duds. Copped some stick on here as well, so is probably short on confidence. Jose has the gift of lifting players, and I suspect we may well see Cahill back to consistent good form. Lets hope so, cause when hes good hes very good.
Just one point of note. The last time Villa won 3-1 away, was at Anfield, they played us at Stamford Bridge the next game and lost 8-0. Not saying this will happen again but lightning can strike twice.
I've just watched a re-run of the 8-0 drubbing last year on CTV and our side will not be much different tomorrow! Villa's performance against the Gooners suggests we have a death struggle on our hands! This is where the Special One will show us how special he really is!
People are far too harsh on Cahill. I think we'll go with Varier's line up. I predict 3-0/3-1 with Schurrle, Lukaku and Cahill () taking the spoils.
It's important to note Arsenal were all over Villa - Villa just finished their chances. I can't see that happening to us. Reckon it'll be 3-1 - maybe 4-1 to us.
