http://www.theguardian.com/football/2010/may/01/benoit-assou-ekotto-tottenham-hotspur Interesting. Wonder how he'll blend with the new team ethos when he doesn't "believe in friendships in football".
This is why I doubted the rumour of his signing yesterday. HR had made such a big deal of signing the 'right sort' and BAE doesn't seem to fit this.
Thanks for posting this, I'd not seen it before. Very interesting, clearly likes Redknapp, and refreshingly honest. Takes something to say these things in the school playground that is English football, respect to him.
He is probably just more honest and articulate than the average footballer and I think he will do well for us. And it will be useful to have another intellectual with an Existential barnet for Joey Barton to converse in French with...
Yup, It was written in 2010! There hasn't been a thread on here discussing his attitude to football yet though- so I thought it could be a good talking point.
If he's as professional as he says, and I've no reason to doubt him, then he is the right sort. And he seemed to do pretty well at Spurs - he had plenty of well-wishing tweets yesterday.
Well, that's, it then. He obviously doesn't give a toss. Why the **** did we sign him? God, does Harry even know what day of the week it is? He's just going to sign more players like this then leave at Christmas with a nice pay-off. Harry Out! Assou-Ekotto Out! Well that's saved a few posters the trouble.# Can we move on please?
I seem to recall Stan Bowles saying something similar once, paraphrasing now, but along the lines that football was a means to an end and he wasn't particularly in love with the game. I think its quite a common theme for footballers, after all isnt that the definition of "professional", as opposed to amateurs doing it for the love of playing?
Harry will get the best out of Benny. he was outstanding for us under Redknapp. These honest stories you see from him will result in you taking to him in due course. great signing lads. infact, all of your business was very good.
Cheers roo. Have to say, we've had a few Spurs fans on all saying the same and most seem to prefer him to Rose. Carroll looks a good player too so well chuffed. Good luck. Hope you finish above the Arses!!
