Right, we need a new one. Mike Phelan isn't very good and certainly shouldn't be an assistant at a club like United. So the question is who could we bring in to assist Fergie. We played brilliant football when Queiroz was here and I would love if we could get him back but its unlikely. Another shout is Solskjaer but hes doing very well over at Molde as a manager ( Just beat Stuttgart in the Europa ) so would he want to drop to an assistant level? Hes spoken about as a future manager of United which may be grounds for him to consider the option. Anyway, those two aside who else is capable. *Interesting fact, my aunty dated Phelan for a shirt while when she was 17. They went to the same school and were friends.
We have those, good at it aswell. I am meaning an assistant, not a specialist in a particular position. Anyway a fitness coach would be better that a defensive coach
He must be doing a good job if Fergie has stuck with him for a while now so no point in getting rid now.
Hes not, hes quite poor Alan for the standard of club we are. Fergie sticks with him for loyalty reasons not for anything else tbh. Nothing against him, but we need someone far better imo.
Supposed to help with tactics and training. Assist with game plans and team selection. So yeh, poor. I am comparing him to McClaren and Queiroz here, he is miles behind both. Kidds better ffs.
Well according to wiki: He has been Sir Alex Ferguson’s right hand man during two Premier League title campaigns, a Club World Cup, two League Cups and guided Manchester United to two Champions League finals. As First Team Coach, Manchester United won three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, a League Cup, and a Champions League. Not too bad for a "poor" assistant manager who will have played his part in the success the club has had in recent years.
we lost those finals, we won with queiroz as assistant and were without doubt the best team in the world. hes good at his job no doubt but we should have better imo. anyway the thread is about alternatives
