I saw this rumour start last night on Facebook. It may well be true, but the origin of the source is to be taken with a pinch of salt.
True enough Super, but quite a few on there are confirming it via ' a source within the club who wouldn"t want their identity revealed'. The general view is 8-10 million for Lookman (and unknown how much of that is upfront but the 8 million has been mentioned). 5% of that is, as Royston points out, peanuts. I suppose we'll get a bit of a feel for the truth of this as the window progresses, but sadly, if it's true it will be a case of same old story, and KR will get a real feel for life inthe Valley hot seat. Particularly sad as 2 million of that could probably get us the cover we need to make a realistic promotion bid.
Handing Robinson peanuts marks us out as a club with no ambition. Once again Roland has sawn off his manager at the knees.
The main hole in the story is the same sources proclaiming we got less for Lookman. Much less. So it doesn't marry up with the 5% of 10million.
Even if we do get £10m for him, it would be much less than that up front. But Robinson's demands are very modest, 2 midfielders and a winger. If we go down the loan route I'll be pi55ed off. We know it rarely works. Even when it does, as with Coquelin, we lose the player quickly simply because it has worked. Can you see Burnley demanding Ulverstad's recall?
I suppose the proof will come with how many players we go on to sign -anything like the 400k mentioned and we can forget a promotion bid. Perhaps Duchatelet considers Kashi & Ceballos "new players" ..
Ceballos is staying with St Truiden. According to Karl Robinson Kashi is out for the Season. He is rehabilitating in warmer climbs.
I wasn't actually there, but allegedly we will be singing a midfielder in the coming days 'for a few'.
I predict we will get one more loan in as things stand. This will rise to two if we sell Morgan Fox. Fans need to remember this when they rattle the begging bowl for season ticket money next summer
Morgan Fox's replacement played for the under 23's today. Alexis Scholl - Belgian who plays for Benfica B. I wonder who was involved in that
It's starting guys... we're looking at another Wigan defender... Ask for Midfilders and Wingers, and you get five defenders, four on loan, and he'll [...Roland] pocket £9.5million. His strategy, it makes sense when he reads his chief scouts report: "The problem with Charlton losing the game is that the opposition score more goals. They need to conceded less." - Thomas Driesden
The bad news is that Lookman has signed for Everton today for an "undisclosed" fee The good news is that Harry Lennon thinks Tony Watt is the best player on League One
