Now I don't mean to be mean and I have only seen highlights but it seems to me Aspas did more yesterday than downing did in the last season (or two)?
I don't mean in goals but in his general play, movement and positivity. I really like the look of him and feel he will be another bargain buy like courthino. He linked up well and is always looking to pressurise defenders.

  2. Loving the spelling of Coutinho <laugh>

But yeah, Aspas is already twice the player than Downing ever was for us

If Willian joins will Aspas be a bench warmer?

Nice predicament to be in, but that's probably the reality.....

But yeah, Downing is no where near the player Aspas is.

  7. Fair enough, that works for me <laugh>

Didn't think he or Sturridge were on top form yesterday but their link up play (along with Aspas) was superb.

  8. Sturridge will pick up injuries along the way. We also have Suarez to return, not to mention Sterling, Ibe and Fabio

That's what I mean - He'll play if his head is straight. With (possibly) Willian in the mix, and our already great front players, will Aspas play a major part?

Sturridge may well remain fit, our fitness team is top notch...use Agger as an example.

Nice to have so many options for once <ok>

    And Gerrard.
Sturridge has admitted he's not 100% and we can't rely entirely on young 'Ford' as teams will set out to stop him. So if Suarez is back onside with us and the others mentioned we do have lots of options up top.
Still like to see a CB and if,as seems likely, cissokho joins that's Lb covered.
Willian....fantastic but not holding my breath.

Two quality players and I think we are nearly there esp as Lucas looked more like his old self yesterday.

Stoke did what a lot of teams will do and marked Coutinho pretty tight. He didn't have his greatest game yesterday but even so the tight marking/doubling up on him allowed him to create space for Aspas and Stuzza :)

Stoke are never an easy defence to crack and yet we could have had 4 or 5 and Aspas was involved in a lot of our good moves. Not going to get carried away as he'll face tougher tests but if he can continue where he left off yesterday he will undoubtedly add a lot to the squad.

    encouraging signs,

we played a team that setup to put men behind the ball and we got a result, those type of games in the past we have usually ended up in a draw or sucker punched, that will only breed confidence, esp for Migs saving the penalty.

their Keeper got mom says it all, if we can get a good result against Villa away in the next game who will be high on confidence after beating the gooners, we may be in for a good season, esp with Suarez to return and maybe WIllian added, looking tasty up top.

I can't believe people were writing Aspas off when we signed him because he wasn't a big name and we didn't pay much for him <doh>

Great little player and anyone who'd watched a tiny bit of La Liga football would have told you otherwise. BR can spot a player.

Downing and Aspas are different players and only two points can be made on this.

One suits our style and the other doesnt. Downing was a stop gap, Aspas was the hole filler.

He is miles ahead of Downing.

Good bit of business and exactly the sort of player we needed for Rodgers system.

these's only one word needed to describe the difference.

    "positivity"

in every aspect of one guys play it is rare, in the other it is always present.

Just like what marks gerrard out... not just talent its the eye for an attack, not a safe pass

Pth. he signed Borini, Allen and Assadi, which then caused this to happen.

"Liverpool’s managing director, Ian Ayre, says all the club’s future transfers will be decided by committee rather than Brendan Rodgers being allowed full control of recruitment."

    Rotation.

Henderson will be first out if Willian joins or if Suarez stays and we sign no one for that role. If that it is down to rotation.

My views on Allen is well noted on this board, but I see alot of promise in Borini as do many others with an open mind and not simply dismissive of anything which isn't Kenny. Assaidi will probably move on.

So Coutinho, Sturridge, Borini, Mignolet, Aspas, Toure and Alberto as positive signings versus Allen and Assaidi. Yeah. He can't spot a player, can he? <doh>

You need to move on, MFG. Kenny's gone, get over it. What do you actually want from the club and will you actually ever be happy again, because I see us improving the team/squad and playing good football, getting rid of the deadwood Kenny bought and getting off to a winning start in the new season.
