Iago Aspas has admitted he is finding it difficult at new club Liverpool. The Spanish striker, 26, arrived at Anfield for £7.5million from Celta Vigo in the summer but has found himself behind Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in the pecking order, and is yet to find the net in the six matches he has played But the Spaniard is not concerned with their form and believes hard work on the training field will get him back into Rodgers' favour. 'I hope to carry on working hard and little by little to get more game time with Liverpool. I want to change the current situation.' Aspas has also seen Swansea striker Michu called into the Spanish squad on the back of excellent performances in the Premier League. 'Now it's difficult to get in the Spain team because I'm playing less but I'm not worried about that. However, I will try to get in the squad.' 'I know Michu and I congratulated him on getting called up by Vicente Del Bosque. I told him to work really hard so will stay in the squad.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...hes-finding-difficult-new-club-Liverpool.html
Ambition or a mental illness hope he turns into a good player mate but nothing I've seen so far suggests he will get in our team regularly nevermind Spains.
It's probably a syndicated translation from a Spanish rag. I doubt he goes touting his opinion to the papers, it's likely journos with nothing to do go to him or its his agent trying to raise his profile. I'm happy he's showing ambition, tbh. I'm not going to fault him for that.
What more do you lot want? He's not moaning that he's better than Sturridge or Suarez and not getting game time. He is saying that he has to work harder to get Rodger's eye. Now to me that's all positive. I hope he does improve and scores goals for us. If for no other reason than the fact he has the same kind of cheeky grin that Ian St. John used to have. As for the Spain talk that's what it is - just talk.
hopefully it's a simple case of new league syndrome, ronaldo, pires, had similar beginnings..... not saying he will be that good etc just pointing out that he wouldn't be the 1st player to struggle in his 1st season of Prem football.
Give him time, stop writing him off so soon. He was very good in La Liga and he's just saying he needs to improve to earn a spot in the team because, frankly, Sturridge is on peak form and Suarez is brilliant. Good on him.
Moses getting goals and assists, Suarez scoring, Sturridge scoring..... Need to take the chances and make something happen to get back in!
Wasn't he called up before on last season's performances? Why the **** isn't he as good as then!? Time for him to prove he's not another Downing.
haha, fair play to Aspas for having ambition, but it's bordering on delusion. When you consider Spain consider Mata a fringe player and premier league stalwarts like Arteta and Enrique do not get a look in , what hope is there for 26 year old Aspas?!?
Guess that means he's not eligible to join Wilshire in the England team then. You win some you lose some... we'll probably lose money when we sell him next summer. (Not happy + not performing = gone)
Really hope he's not going to be another Assaidi/Sahin/Borini where they come in, show 1 or 2 glimpses of quality but then fail to make any more of an impact. He played well against Stoke on his debut and seemed to be able to find the net during pre-season with good movement but maybe he just needs more time to adjust. Does seem we seem to judge players who don't come in and make an immediate impact after watching Coutinho/Suarez and others like Michu who come over and do it, but then we tend to go complete other way and quote Lucas/Henderson where we should give everyone 2 or 3 years and then expect them to come good. Needs a good run of games this year, then the same next year and if still no good come Jan 2015 then should be looking to move him on.
Yeah, realised that after I posted. Performance wise though. I hope he's more of a Maxi Rodriguez. Slow start also, became one of my favourite players under Dalglish.
