Ex-Pompey goalkeeper enters the Guinness Book of Records for the incredible goal he scored against our friends down the road..... Stoke City goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has earned a place in the Guinness World Records book for the longest goal scored in football. The 27-year-old scored from a long kick forward in his side's 1-1 draw with Southampton last November. His kick, after 13 seconds, caught the wind and bounced over opposite number Artur Boruc into the Saints' net. It has now been measured at 91.9m (301ft 6in), earning it the accolade in the record book's latest edition. "I feel amazing to be honoured in this way and as a goalkeeper I didn't expect this to happen, not for this type of record anyway," the Bosnia and Hercegovina international told Stoke's official website. He added: "I will take it though and enjoy it." Begovic joined an exclusive club of goalkeepers to have scored in the Premier League when finding the net against Southampton. Peter Schmeichel, Brad Friedel, Paul Robinson and Tim Howard are the others with goals to their name. What a brilliant goalkeeper to have come through our Academy

I loved the fact that, in an attempt at solidarity with his fellow keeper, he looked genuinely bemused and not a little embarrassed by the fact it went in. When his team-mates were congratulating him, he was not celebrating at all. Even funnier, was the fact that it made him Stoke's joint top scorer at the time! It might have been against my team but you have to laugh!
We had not long kicked off against Exeter at FP that day when the Fratton end started singing his name - much to the bewilderment of those on the pitch. He was gracious to be fair and did look somewhat sheepish about it. Top bloke and a top top top keeper....(apparently you have to say it three times if they are really good) just hoping we had a sell on clause inserted when he went to Stoke.
Doubt it Eastney - wasn't it that crook Daniel Azougy who sold him, as I think Storrie was "sidelined" by that time ?
I seem to remember I think it was Shilts scoring a similar goal against us at the dell. How many teams have scored like that since football started ? Or is it just against us
