It would be awesome if he went to the World Cup next year. Surely a candidate for a call up sooner rather than later.

He should probably be next in line for the defensive mid role behind Gonalons and Matuidi, very deep group they have at their disposal but fortunately for him M'Vila has been exiled and Capoue has fallen out of favour.

I fear he may suffer the same fate that our English players do with our national team though. If he plied his trade in France on this form he'd probably have squeezed into the squad at some point.

We could keep him quiet and then get him called up for England.

Don't have to keep him quiet for much longer; provided that he meets the other requirements, he's a little over three months from being a resident for five years (which, if FM has taught me anything, is the necessary length to apply for citizenship).

He seems a pretty proud Frenchman though, I doubt he'd be interested.

    Would be nice though!

Lets face it, England don't deserve Morgan, & would probably manage to waste his talents better than any other European country.

It's unfortunate for him that France have an abundance of really good CMs.

He can't play for England, as he's represented France at youth level.

Morgan certainly could play for England. They asked him though, I remember it happening.

He said although he's been here so long he considers himself to be an honorary Englishman, at the end of the day he is French.

Says the only country he could ever play for is France.

That's because he already held Nigerian citizenship before he played for England.

Also, the Home Nations have an agreement with FIFA that players can't represent the country under those circumstances (i.e. living in the country for 5 years). It's why Angel Rangel can't play for Wales.

    What happened next to him?

He was born in Wales, and only represented England at schoolboy level. That was by virtue of his school being in Salford.

GBS is right. There was talk of Arteta getting a call-up but he was ineligable.

Just read up on the story of Angel Rangel to find out what the deal was there. He can't represent Wales because he didn't have five years of continuous education up to the age of 18.
