With the announcement that a deal has been struck on the future of Ashton Vale, it would seem that the dream is over for Steve Lansdown. I look at what this means for City, Lansdown and also take a closer look at Dr. Liam Fox MP's role in the position we now find ourselves in, with some help from my old man! http://exiledrobin.blogspot.co.uk/2013/09/ashton-vale-beginning-of-end.html I'm sure many of you ar now at the stage where you don't really care and just want this sorted, but there's an interesting angle to this on Dr.Fox that is worth reading. As ever, thanks for reading, and all feedback is as welcome as ever
It has been known since time began that politicians are more than capable of talking out of both sides of their mouths. Quite a simple trick really because they also believe that their bread should be buttered on both sides so why not use both sides of your mouth? Basically they will say anything at anytime to anyone who might want to listen, but more importantly they will decide where their opinions matter most, and sadly that is only to themselves. That rings true here in Canada as well - sad really isn't it?
How have you evidence based your assertion a minority have won? Councillors in that area are elected on a pro green belt agenda. The green belt will be built on regardless of the local populaces views, indeed the wider community. Apart from the Council what wide spread support did this project really have? Apart from Bristol City supporters trust campaign is was hard to see visible support. Gromits are of more interest to the Bristol public. BCFC failed to get the Bristol public and that of BS3/Long Ashton solidly behind them.
Ashton vale is undoubtedly a more lucrative path to follow !! Is it? No really detailed business plan has ever been ever revealed. So unless the writer is privy to info that was not available at the clubs AGM, open days ... They are making that up.
SL will still make more money to add to his millions regardless. He bought the site cheap and whether its redeveloped for housing or a football stadium (ha ha) it will be worth serious money K-Ching
