i went and watched Bristol play Worcester today. Fantastic win by Bristol. There was 16550 fans in the ground, what I witnessed today was amazing firstly all four stands sing, but not just pockets, the whole stands. The noise was fantastic and very loud. I would say the noise is more than at the football matches. It was amazing. Even at the end the crowd were still singing 10 minutes after the game ended. I gotta say I was very very impressed with what I witnessed today. Bristol are a premiership side fan wise. I just hope they keep their place.
I went down against the sharks and I have to say the fans backed the team, but nothing like yesterday. I see on other forums their was football fans down there yesterday who have said the same as me regards the atmosphere.
I also went yesterday and have done on several occasions this and last season.. I don't know where you were sat but you are definitely not describing an atmosphere that I noted. Whilst I agree it was the best atmosphere of the season (there usually isn't one at all) the Bristol fans were very aware that this was a 'must win' game, and got behind their side on a few occasions but for a 16k crowd anyone expecting a football type atmosphere would be very disappointed.. Having said that the atmosphere at City this season is dreadful..
You've just got to compare international matches for atmosphere, rugby is always louder than football. Club rugby can have a really good atmosphere if the crowd are there. Gloucester (used to go there, into the shed regularly) and Bath are fantastic as they get regular near if not full capacity crowds. From what I'm hearing Exeter is supposed to be getting there as well.
Many of my family are rugby fans Barf and Bristol. The atmosphere generally is nothing to note, apart from how passive it is.
Far better than the football atmosphere this season,I thought it was superb far play to the rugby fans yesterday
