Ashley Young could learn from this. I think someone mentioned the officials checking with players on doubtful decisions elsewhere. In this case the guy is feeling guilty so asks the ref to disallow the goal!! Particularly impressive as it was towards the end in a key match. Well played that man http://www.offthepost.info/blog/201...ds-with-ref-to-disallow-his-hand-of-god-goal/ Marius Ebbers, of German side St Pauli, successfully lobbying the referee to chalk-off a goal heâs just scored. Ebbers turned the ball into the Union Berlin net, but knew in his heart of hearts that he had converted the cross with an outstretched arm. The match officials missed the handball and the goal was set to be awarded when Ebbers started his protests. He âfessed up that he had mirrored Maradona and the goal was eventually ruled out. The noble act didnât do St Pauli any harm. They won the match 2-1 after a late winner
I'm sure Young will have a burning sense of pride when he picks up his PL winners medal knowing he cheated and got a fellow pro sent-off as well, it's called being a modern footballer. Ebbers could start a new trend in the game but I wouldn't hold my breath...
