It is no secret that Ashley’s five year plan is to….

    - Reduce The Debt
    - Assume, total authority (along with Pardrew) over the club
    - Build a squad that has a backbone based on youth (linked with the first one), and thus create it "suistanable"
    - Take over France

Of course I am no fan of Ashley but today’s events haven’t angered me against him, looking at it from both sides, I see Ashley/Newcastle more in the right than that of Joey Barton.

    Ashley’s Case –

    - Stuck by Barton, while in prison.
    - Has been seriously undermined by Barton (despite warnings) on Twitter
    - Barton is starting to reach the 30 barrier (going against the youth policy)
    - Despite claims otherwise Barton remains a liability (the Pedersen punch)

    Barton’s Case –

    - Was arguably our best player last season
    - Being refused the stability a long contract can bring

Of course I will be disappointed if/when Barton leaves, but to blame this “whole” fiasco upon that of Ashley’s is ludicrous.

this is not based solely on this fiasco, this is 4 years of ashleys bullshit all coming to a climax. Tbh this should have happened long ago. We managed to get him to put us up for sale before but he was toying with us at that point.

Agreed the season we got relegated was largely to do with Ashley and the Board, but since I havn't seen to much he has done wrong. Carroll, went for a ludicrous price (4 mil more and you could get Aguero..) Nolan probably had his best season and as for Barton, the reasons are upon the first post. Jose Enrique is nothing to do with Ashley or Pardrew, who are fighting tooth and nail to keep him.

What's the point in selling a player (even if it is VERY good money) if you're not going to spend it anyways?

    This.

If this was the first ridiculous thing Ashley had done, it wouldnt be so bad. But it isnt.

Keegan was the one who stood by Barton not Ashley, this was one of the reasons Keegan was sacked.

His 5 year plan can go down the toilet if we get relegated. Simple.

Barton has caused unrest in the camp along with Enrique but yet people still blame the board. Yes they are no saints but Barton and Enrique are dragging players on their side and therefore causing them to show their frustrations. I now think the team spirit is gone but if we have a good start to the season we should forget this and leave it to the end of season to get him out where the players are on holiday and fans can show their frustration without causing too much damage.

The actions of the board have lead to Jose and Joey doing what they do.

Yes in the case of Barton, I beleive Jose however is just wanting a fresh start at a higher status club, using the board as an excuse (he was delaying contract decisions even before any of this).

I do agree however that Ashley's plan is a risk, which could go up in smoke if the club gets relegated, other than that I am not to against his policies.:lipsrsealed::lipsrsealed:

True but then again we know this and he has shot himself in the foot by abusing his employer. He is not the best owner but when you do things like this you always know what the penalties are.

We seem to have just accepted to pay money knowing full well we will never try and achieve anything! No point

I'm just trying to understand what our ambitions are anymore, I've never quite felt so low about this club. My dad told me all about the regime that sold off Beardsley, Gazza, Waddle and co and guess what happened, that team was relegated.

I'm not saying we will be relegated (although the bookies have us as a dead cert), but the pattern is, sell your best players at your peril!

Anyone seen inception, lets plant an idea in Ashley's mind to make this club great and spend lots of money... I reckon his subconcious would have loads of sports direct employees running round squatting the dreamers!

    It's good here isn't it
