Wonder what the feeling is about ash refusing to talk about it when asked the question? considering the club felt the need to release a statement and gary monk felt the need to do the same, do you think its a fair question to ask him in the circumstances(those being that he was at a wales press conference and only wanted to talk about wales, which i guess is quite understandable to a certain degree) he could though, have quashed even further the story if he chose to do so...but he didnt, a "no comment" very often means the opposite. He is there for wales and only wants to talk about wales,he could however have called the story a load of **** but didnt,he could have said something along the lines of "look,we are all behind the manager and are giving 100% support to him, now i just want to focus on the wales game and answer questions relevent to that thank you" It was a perfect time to publically back his manager IMO.
Agree he's left the door open to more speculation...... was he tapped up and left behind by the pied piper of scouseland ? Is that why he's been off the pace ( apart from his ankle , but then again if he's injured why is he playing ) ?
Stumpy actually makes reference to this in my other article( RE laudrup/player unrest) and what he says does paint a different picture of the context in which ash williams was asked. A bloody intresting day i must say!! the proof of the pudding will be in the eating, but ash has now gone from carrying an injury to playing for wales in a few days, surely he should be resting if he is injured? i can understand him playing through the pain for the club that provides him with his living as he has a vested intrest in maintaing his lifestyle by ensuring we stay in the prem league, but to gamble it all by playing for wales seems a bit daft to me. I will stick my neck out here and say that Ash williams will leave the field injured tomorrow and will also miss some games for swansea as a result
Gutted Ash is playing. We have no chance of qualifying, and this just risking his health even more if he is nursing an injury.
Ash cant answer anything its not his place to.....If anyone is to make any sort of statement then it will be jinks, laudrup or to a lesser degree monk as he is the official club captain....fans on here are blowing this all out of proportion and seeing things that are not there.
Dai i think most people are quite intrested in a view point of a player, captain or not. Maybe the smart move was indeed to avoid answering, thats really the point of this thread, was it the right thing not to answer or not. In light of todays events an indorsement of our manager would not have gone amiss !!
Monk may be the club captain but Ash is the 'pitch' captain. Got just as much right to come out and back his manager as did Monk earlier. However he is on international duty therefore he has a right to only answer questions about Wales.
Any player has a right to speak publically, if they are asked a question. It's usally not wise to do so, and Ash probably did the right thing by not. Personally, I think the mail hav blown this out of proportion, hence Ash's silence.
I see no reason why he couldn't comment, just a simple rebuttal of there being no unrest etc. After all he is and employee of Swansea City, so the press will feel that it perfectly reasonable to ask his thoughts etc.
Maybe there is a little? He probably doesn't want to get involved with the press, and has the best intrests of his club and team mates at heart.
I can understand Ash not wanting to say anything, but it would have been nice to put it to bed, once and for all.
Unless Ash is completely stupid he should know that his silence could lead to more speculation. It would have taken him no more than 20 seconds to say that he and the rest of the team were behind the manager and lay this matter to rest. He chose not to which WILL lead to more speculation. Bad move whatever his reasons.
The players have to watch what they say for fear of bringing the club into disrepute... please stop talking rubbish if you are only guessing the facts and think it through first....
sorry ash is a stand in for 90 minutes only. He is not the clubs captain....Monk is the official captain before the game and then after the game and if he is not available then Tate takes over the responsibility ....Players has to have permission from the club including monk to make any statement that concerns the club or they will find themselves in big trouble....
Aren't I entitled to an opinion then? You always have to resort to name calling, if anybody has a different opinion to you.
of course you can have an opinion but im giving you the reason on why they cant come out and give their views....they are under contract and must get the clubs blessing....
Ivor again totally agree, and his non comment will only lead people to point the finger at him, rightly or wrongly, again I cannot for the life of me see why the club would see a ringing endorsement of the manager as bringing it into disrepute, Neveroff, you are not the one not thinking things through here !
