Stunned .... Ash is not playing today!!! The end of a phenomenal run of appearances for us. It's almost inconceivable to not see him in the line-up.

Monk replaces him alongside Caulker .... it's going to be a long 90 minutes. I can see the crosses coming in now. Thank God for Caulker - let's hope he has a blinder.

He's got to be injured, there is no other reason I think.

Or that virus that was going around hit him. Either way it looks like we have this game well in hand.

What a run of games Ash put in , but it's nice to finally know that Monk can step in & cover brilliantly for our #1 defender

It says on the bbc that he was out because of a virus , shame for him thought he'd top 200 games without a miss, well here's to his next 169 games without a miss !

Congratulations Mr Williams. This record will take a long time to break... and I doubt an outfield player will do it in my lifetime!

Just kidding. One of our stalwarts who has had a fantastic season but Monk did a decent job standing in today.

why would a player miss a match because he had a virus? oops he is getting paid to do SFA. you or me would be at the kick off regardless, harden up Ash

He's an athlete , a virus can have an effect on performance , so it's better to have him off than struggling to play and possibly giving goals away, yes he gets paid for not playing but so do I when off sick!

monk played a blinder yesterday, a fine captains job, we can rest ash as and when now knowing we have cover. with two regulars in ash and dyer out we still dominated and played the swansea way and that is a sign of a great team.....

Super ... It is a sign ofa quality team ... The way we played yesterday, in such relaxed command, was at times bordering on taking the piss - if we hadn't tried to score we'd still be In possession of the ball today. It was probably the best we have played this seaon. While watching the game on an Italian Sopcast, amongst all the words I didn't understand, the commentator used the term Swansalona during one of our 20+ pass sequences.

The last game of the season against United is likely to be one of the most intense games of the season with the outcome deciding the title. What a stage to perform on.

Agree superswan, but think I would prefer Ash there to be honest, still Monk has done well for us and I hope he gets more chances before the end of the season.
