It's interesting to look back to see how fellow posters on here thought the season was going to pan out. Stumbled upon this thread, you've got to admire JWM's and Hampy's optimisim. According to Hampy everything was 'clicking into place' at the Portaloo and JWM was looking forward to turning his fifty quid into a Grand. But, as predicted by Carra, JWM won't be seeing his money again ! http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/70166-Odds-on-upcoming-season
Never mind I did alright at Cheltenham and the Grand National to make up for it! Another £50 on Ipswich again next season... I'd be better off pissing it against a wall but you never know!
About 16-1 at a guess, should be nearer 40-1 but you know what bookies are like, tight as a duck's arse ! P.S. That's not to say I think we're going to get relegated, but I do know it's going to be even tougher next year IMO
interesting stuff - i think my two posts were pretty much spot on... ----- âas for odds, of course city are one of the favourites for the drop. whoever is promoted is always favourite. it was noticeable last year though we were ranked higher by bookies to gain promotion than ipswich, despite having come up from league one! i expect some were surprised by that but looking at the teams on paper it made sense. ipswich havenât really improved this summer but they have got a better keeper (if they can keep him) and a striker who could net 15 goals with decent service. problem is, they have no service as their midfield is one paced and lacks vision. a good keeper still needs a good defence in front of it - otherwise he will be too isolated. you donât have that. as i predicted before, ipswich will finish mid-table where they usually do. if they push for top six iâm sure they canât ask for much more than that considering the total mess they were in under keane! as for us, we need to finish above three teams - it isnât impossible.â ----- âyou will miss mcauley, no matter how much youâve now decided you donât rate him! he was, by a considerable margin, your best defender and replacing him with a sicknote will not improve your team. love the fact spanish thinks we were rubbish last year... i hate being this rubbish!!â ----- i actually predicted us to finish 15th this season so wasn't far out. had wolves 11th though. oops!!
I would never bet on the team I support, heart always rules head. Personally I see a tough season ahead for both us and Ipswich for varying reasons, mainly I expect more outs than ins at ipswich and a touch of second season syndrome for us. I'm not saying I think either will go down as such, just think both teams will be fighting a bit with it next season.
