The Football Association will permit artificial pitches to be used in qualifying rounds of the FA Cup. The decision also affects matches in six other FA competitions, including the FA Trophy and the Women's FA Cup.

Good or bad move? I know technology has moved on but the artificial pitches in the past have never worked out. Is this the future?

I'm all for it. It will benefit teams that play good passing football like ourselves. I buy and supply the stuff through my work and the look and feel of it nowadays is incredible; most people would struggle to tell its fake without touching it

alot of teams now, like Reading, have a pitch made of a mixture of real grass and artificial. i´m pretty sure most away fans would not notice

The old ones were terrible. I broke my ankle and knackered my ligaments at the old loftus road on their carpet.

The new technology is very good and does sort out those with a bad first touch.

A ll i remember about the Loftus Road artificial surface was that it was full of chewing gum and rubbish, obviously the rubbish didn't include you in that letiss, as i never saw you play.
Artificial surfaces have moved on since those days and most Top clubs have a full size artificial training pitch these days.

My memories of artificial pitches were our poor results at Oldham's Boundary Park when we played them in the league AND cup!
