Thankfully artifical pitches have improved since NE installed one in the 80s. That pitch brought in extra revenue for the club at the time: it could be used as many times a week as needed and by different sports. And less matches were cancelled due to a frozen pitch. I heard that cricket & American gridiron (it's not football) rugby were played on it. Not only could such a pitch bring in extra revenue now but also provide extra employment in the City. I do not understand the 'turf is sacred' argument because the turf is renewed each year: the pitch is not the pitch the Invincibles used! One could argue then that pulling down the old stands was a barbaric thing to do. So come on TH, splash the cash that you have saved by avoiding tax on an artificial pitch & reap the rewards: a glorious NE! and a few bob as well. It may even increase the value of the team!
At least let us have a debate about this.:emoticon-0105-wink:<peacedove>

Disagree having lived through the plastic crap that was Deepdale's horror am of the opinion that grass is the only way.
Some non league clubs have placcy pitches and no matter how much they have improved you still cannot tackle properly.
