I've been on here for a few weeks now and I have to say the experience is becoming pretty bland. (it may just be the lack of opposing fans admittedly)

I cannot distinguish anyone of you who has set principles, doesn't like how we play, loves Elliot Ward, liked Glen Roeder (stretching it). Most of the stuff on here is pretty monotonous with back slapping agreement and my point is why bother? Do it some of the time yes, but there is just a constant stream of agreeable articles going round and round and round. I know people think I disagree for the sake of it (not true), I just rarely bother to register agreement, unless I think it is particularly insightful, or I agree vehemently, because the whole board is bogged down with it.

What I would like is for people to put down in this article a simple footballing point or idea about our club that they genuinely believe but know/think everyone else would disagree with,(like a dirty secret) and then explain why.

I just don't believe everyone is so the same and I think it would be interesting to see what people think and are prepared to say.

    I'll start,
I think the Carrow Rd crowd are mostly stupid because
    1. They groan whenever Hoolahan loses the ball regardless of what he's done
    2. They shout at him because he doesn't shoot (despite the fact he'll have 2 players directly in front of him
    3. They just want us to smash the ball upfield ASAP (very common)
    4. All they care about is winning
    5. They would rather see a full blooded tackle than a beautiful pass

I've said this before, and I will no doubt say it again after this occasion. You are the single most negative person I know, whether that be in the real world or on the internet.

My god, why would anybody want to get people to pick a discussion just to have a disagreement?!

By the way, I would imagine that the vast majority of Norwich fans would agree with your assessment if you said that the Carrow Road crowd had a small minority of stupid people, but certainly not most people!

Well, you don't have to join in, just ignore it if your not interested.

I thought it would make a change and be interesting for people to express a particular opinion they wouldn't normally. If you don't, then fine.

Why would you think it was stupid to actually discuss stuff which you wouldn't normally?

Nothing wrong with agreeing. It's a forum to discuss and people are free to agree or disagree. Perhaps it's good that we agree?

I think this thread encourages negativity before the start of maybe our most important season ever. If we stay up, we get a massively important stadium expansion. But I think this thread is created more on the jokey side of poking fun at ourselves. So lets not have people falling out over this. Maybe use it as looking at yourselves in the heat of a football match and what you say and do that you look back on as stupid. I know I get caught up during a match and say stuff I probably should not have. No need to have disagreements on this forum before the seasons starts for no reason.

Yep, have to admit carrabuh, you do come up with some strange ideas, to try and provoke people into action. Can´t quite see why being in agreement should make the board a bland place to be, the board would be a far less congenial place to be in my opinion, if someone was always kicking up the dust just to provoke a response. You seem a bit like those less reputable areas of the media, who deliberately concoct a story, when there isn´t one, just to attract some attention.

There´ll be quiet times on here when there isn´t much happening and therefore not much to say, as well as hectic times when we can hardly get a word in edgeways. Controversy there will always be, without you needing to provide it. ;)

Absolutely, but it is just constant and all the time. There seems to be a lot towing the party line which you never got on the old 606.

I don't hear many interesting ideas on here, its all "I like him", "Yeah, me too", "and me", "don't forget I like him as well"

Its a forum without alot of interesting opinion, just reiteration of what everyone else thinks or transfer gossip.

Agreed this is the most important season we have had in my lifetime, don't know about in our clubs history, but it's great that we can all go into it so positively!!

"Controversy there will always be, without you needing to provide it."

Theres never any controversy on here, I just pick and choose my genuine opinions that I think will create a response. I can say how I love Fox, Hoolahan, Holt, Surman, R Bennet, Holt and Ayala, its easy, but everyone thinks that so why bother? I wouldn't want to read it.

Yawn, just because I don't go into "pinkun mode" doesn't mean I don't have opinions

I just make measured, well thought out opinions

    Guilty!

I've been thinking about this since yesterday or the day before when there was a little outburst on the article Beefy wrote!

Have you thought that maybe, just maybe, if that article was 'common opinion' and 'everyone agrees' (including you) then it might actually be correct?

Having said that, I'm all for this thread.

I think that Chris Martin could, given the chance, be a quality striker for us.
I also believe that, were I able to drive, I would drive Simeon Jackson to another club for a packet of crisps and a non-alcoholic pint

    because I'd be driving, obviously.

I don't agree with this. The club are doing well which probably drives the consensus of opinion on here. If we were doing badly then I'm sure there would be a more varied amount of comment and opinion

Have you tried the pink un cArrabuh?

You know what Carrabuh, I wholeheartedly disagree with you on many things, including partly this. I think there are quite a few disagreements amongst us on here; given that we're all supporters of the same team, it is likely that we'll attempt to be positive about the same things. We're all likely to agree because we all want to make the best of things- just like fans of any other club will rally around to defend any criticism. I also agree that you are negative just for the sake of it. You have this vision of your idea of football which I think is neither realistic nor attractive. In fact, your idea of good football, to me, seems narrow minded and completely subjective.

However, I think you have a good idea here, even though you've gone about it the wrong way.

So let's say something controversial, but honest, that sometimes we'd hold back on saying. Here's mine:

I really don't think Russell Martin is that great. I really don't. I don't think he's good enough as a Premier League full back, not nearly. The one or two games he's done well there have been because Elliott Bennett has fully supported him and thus poor old Bennett has not taken any of the plaudits. I also don't think he's good enough as a Premier League centre-back. It's not his position. He's comfortable on the ball, yes. He's also relatively reliable. But he simply isn't anything special. He's too much an all rounder. I'm quite happy to have him on the bench if the worst comes to the worst and I think he did fantastically well to save us at times last season with all our injuries in defence, but I think that more often than not he simply makes life harder for those around him. I can't understand why people have suggested him as captain.

But that's just my point of view <ok>
