Why are we Sunderland fans so good at taking positives, twisting them a little then turning them into negatives? I can hear it now, we are allowed an opinion, its obvious to everyone so why cant Bruce see it. Well yes we are all allowed our opinions and Iâm just giving mine, all I ask is to think of how your opinion is worded and what affect it can have on everyone else. We have signed some excellent players, are they wow players, no. Would Newcastle fans want them, does it matter. Do they help solve some of last seasons problems, they should. No bottle. Problems in defence. Goals from midfield. Set pieces. Gordons injury concerns. Winning mentality. All things we said were lacking last season and all hopefully improved with our signings. Do we celebrate these additions, well we started to but with NâZog moving to Villa and a few uninspiring friendly games it seems the good work is forgotten and we are hurtling towards disaster. Why did we not buy NâZogbia, we donât know but assume its because Bruce and Quinn dropped a bollock. Will we bring someone in, we donât know but are ready to pounce anyway. Its natural to be nervous and concerned, we Sunderland fans know all about concern. My concern is we are coming up to season start,Liverpool away, Newcastle at home, very easy to go into game 3 with 1 or 0 points, if we are moaning now what will we be like then. We all no the concerns, why not assume that Bruce and Quinn also know and let them get on with it. All we can do is be positive and support so come on boys and girls, be happy.
we dont seem to be dave but why, yes we know about BARTON and his tweets, our lack of that LW player nd the rest but look around, take out Liverpool and City and look at who is buying.
Who is unbeaten ?, and fans are allowed to say what they see, this stems from last season with all the loan players he should not have had to bring 9 players in. Turner seems too slow and Titus is like Cattermole charging in with tackles, i know they will take time to fit in, and maybe 10 games into the season but the strikers we have will not get us enough goals next season so i hope Steve bruce remembers that and gets Defoe in maybe on loan, and Johnson from Man city would be great. I said 2 seasons ago bring Shaun wright phillips in when he was left out their team, he is back to his best form now looking great and he can play on either side of midfield.
Bobby mate: I believe that we lost to Burnley just this week... Syd: There are times when I truly believe that Sunderland are supported by a vast number of schizophrenics! It's surely not natural for opinions and moods to change so quickly..
I know what you mean. I think some people just like to moan. Is it because they are bored, or have no lives outside of this board? I don't know, but one thing I do know is that friendlies mean nowt - they are fitness and team building exercises that's all. While I admire the supporters who go to pre-season matches if I went I would go for the craic and the social experiences but not expect to see a good game. I am happy with the signings we have made and if we don't get a 'marquee' signing so what? We got Gyan last year and he would grace any premiership team, indeed La Liga or Serie A team too. Sometimes a team is more that the sum of its parts - which we should know from the Quinn/Phillips and Gates/Gabbiadini years and look at Blackpool last year - they were witthin a whisker of staying up, with a team of so called 'journeymen'. So having few 'stars' for me is a positive. Also virtually all our squad have international and premiership experience, and from what I have seen and heard they seem to be the type of characters who are prepared to work for the team, not just themselves. I think we have a good chance of achieving all that we hope for this season. Yes, we will still have to contend with injuries, poor refereeing, plain bad luck even, but any long time Sunderland supporter must surely know that the current squad is in the best shape it has been in for most of the last 40 years and, as syd said, the management have addressed many of the problem areas, we and they, identified over the season. What more do people want? I sometimes think even if we signed Lionel Messi some people on here would still say that Bruce should have bought a left winger instead!
Now that’s just silly. Lol I think as fans we all think we are the manager. That’s what ALL fans are like and normally, we'd just crack on with our mates in the pub or at games but here, we have an online forum where we can debate at any time. It allows us to think, pop in for a look at any time and have our say to a much wider audience. At the end of the day, only Bruce can actually effect things but in the meantime, I intend with I am sure all of the other contributors on not606 and other MSG boards, to have my ten-penneth worth whenever I feel like it and whatever grabs my fancy that day. We don’t effect the team selection, buying policy, target players or tactics at all. We simply do what fans should do. Moan, celebrate, whinge, cheer, applaud, argue and debate. We will never all be in agreement because opinions are personal and individual and one mans favourite player could be another’s most detested. Personally, I hope and pray that this never changes because it will be so damned boring if we all agreed.
Thing is syd it's the same concerns as last season and they are still not fully addressed, LB, LW, decent goal scorer, CBs who can actually defend without getting sent off or give stupid penalties away, indiscipline. I'm happy with the signings so far apart from the total lack of a left side for the third season (up to now), hope you are right that SNQ and SB know about this and are doing something about it, how long can you hold your breathe for mate?
We've had no recognised left back or left winger since brucie got here yet 16th, 13th & 10th positions suggest he's getting summit right. I agree the left side needs addressing but who realistically would you go for? Brucie might need help with this.
