  1. Before i start, this isn't going to be a mindless rant calling Ashley a fat **** or anything.

I realize that not everything is Ashley's fault and we shouldn't blame him for everything that's gone wrong at the club, because it isn't his fault we got relegated or bought the wrong players at times.

But i just think that some people defend him too much. The figures are in black and white. He's made around 46-48 million of transfers, plus the enormous amounts from TV coverage, tickets sold for games, food and drink sold at the club.

I realize the club does owe him a lot in loans but don't you think he should be still investing in the club?

He's made all that money from selling our players, and his company has profited from the renaming of the stadium and his advertisements painted on and around the ground. I realize that cash needs to be spent on agent fees and other expenses, but this still does not excuse him from not investing in the club.

I think some of his business decisions are sensible, and could help the club in the long run, but i personally believe that since he's sold some of our best players, he should be returning some of that cash to improve the team, and not just relying on our fantastic scouts to find miracle players.

I know this is totally pointless, as it wont change anything, and we all know Ashley doesn't care, but i just don't understand the people that seem to be defending Ashley. As i said, he isn't to blame for our relegation, but he sure as hell isn't trying to help us succeed.

We could still spend a reasonable amount of cash on transfers, and be miles away from putting ourselves in financial danger. Some people are getting too paranoid about that. It's not as if we're going to go into administration for spending money on 1 or 2 quality players. No we shouldn't chuck money around, and i think it's great that the club aren't bowing down to players demands in wages, but we seem to be taking the opposite extreme. We're not spending anything, and we're relying on luck.

So yes, i agree with the people that say we should shut up insulting Mike Ashley and blaming him for everything, but he isn't helping us much by not investing cash to buy players. Paying off agents and giving players their wages is not a valid excuse. If he sells our talent, he should invest at least a good portion of the cash to get replacements.

You have to remember the club was absolutely up to its eyeballs in debt. As much of a clueless **** as he is when it comes to football, the man isn't a billionnaire for no reason, and understands business better than most. Without him, I don't think we'd be too far off looking forward to our derbies with Gateshead and hoping to get Whitley Bay in the FA Trophy.

Everyone is entitled to their own views and opinions. That's the answer.

  4. Yes, and as much as i hate him, you have to give credit to him for that, in the same way you have to give credit to a rockstar who's a prick but gives a million to starving children.

However, there is no point in him not investing any cash now. We've been lucky to get back to this position we are in now, and finding some of the players we have thanks to the scouts. Just because he bailed us out of debt, doesn't give him the right to sell our best players, and keep the cash for himself. I know he's entitled to his money back, but he shouldn't try and do that at our expense.

Personally want to see more money spent, but you have to remember we were to far the other way under FFS.

Where has the 'luck' been? Isn't it the players knuckling down and playing their best? We've probably had more bad luck with injuries that's held us back if anything.

This. It's conceivable that he is going to cold turkey us for a few seasons so when our expectations are low he'd make the odd good spend here and there. Maybe he thinks if everybody gets the taste for the big spend again they'll start shouting for moar moar moaaaarrrr and we'd end up in the ****ter.

Just a thought anyway, the alternative is that he wants to spend just enough to keep the team afloat and get his cash back before ****ing off. That's probably more likely.

  8. Yes, i never meant to say that the players hadn't worked hard and dug in and helped us, as well as Chris Hughton. I didn't mean we fluked it, what i meant was the team spirit and the team we had came together and won through their hard work, and through the work of an amazing man Chris Hughton, and we did this with no money spent, and through luck we discovered we had a quality team lower in the ranks but we just didn't realize it.

Normally achieving promotion so quickly doesn't happen after selling most of your best players and relying on your low payed assistant manager and your left over players to win things for you.

All of this we achieved without the help of Mike Ashley. We got this far on hard work and team spirit, and in some ways luck that the players that were left over after relegation gelled so well together.

Seeing as he sat back and watched everyone else fight for the club and regain it's premier league status, after he made all that cash from our players, and also sat back on his fat arse and watched the team battle it's way to safety after he sold our top scorer last minute without a replacement, i believe he should show a little bit of commitment to the team and the club by investing in it.

Because for the past two seasons we have moved in a direction we would not have seen for a long time had fat freddy stuck around!!!

I do honestly think that given a few years opinions will change.

  16. Perhaps you should try reading it then? The article i just wrote, you can disagree with parts of it or it entirely, but instead of just being a ****, try an offer a constructive response to the points raised in the article, as that is what this forum is for.

Tash, I sense this is all to do with hardly seeing much of 35 million being reinvested into the squad?
