Last week I was at Brighton and Swansea (I don't go to every game so I thought I would give that a mention early!) Here is how I see things at the mo: The Plus Points: --------------- As I see it we are really not playing that badly. Our problems are creating not defending. The more I see Mignolet the more I think he is a fantastic keeper - what an amazing reaction save in front of our fans at Swansea. Wes Brown looks class - he looks much quicker than I imagined, very lean and is certainly no has been. John O'Shea has class written all over him - so composed and assured, he linked up very well with Brown and repelled Swansea with so much confidence. We are lucky to have both to them and that's thanks to Bruce. Sessegnon despite being played in the hole (not on the left) looks special and can create something out of nothing. The Down Side: --------------- Bruce's tactics - Colback is not a left winger. left wing is an important possition and it's unfair to bung him as the rookie out on the left. Most of Sess's best attacks were down the left - for crying out loud Bruce - play Sess there. I might be old fashioned but we are the sort of club that does better with 4-4-2 not 4-4-1-1. Lets get Wickham up front with Gyan. I can't believe Wickham was bought by Bruce as a player for the future - he's had enough experience with Ipswich and the Under 21's to play week in week out for us. Bruce also has a selection headache - who misses out from Gardner, Cattermole, Vaughan and Colback in the middle of the park? Bruce will have to piss one of them off - his fault for buying so many central midfielders. Another big downside is Gyan - he spent more time throwing himself on the floor than competing against Swansea. Forget the referee son and play for the team. Gyan was jeered of by a lot of our fans when he was subbed - it upset him so he came into the crowd at the end: it was a nice gesture and showed that he cares. Let's hope that he moves on and finds some form. The solution to our form seems simple to me - I think there will be a lot of angry fans if we play 4-4-1-1 against Chelsea. I am suprised at some of the fans though - was anybody else on the service bus going to Swansea station? a young lady on there was crying and effing and blinding against Bruce....we haven't been relegated love. Keep the faith - it takes time for 10 new signings to gel - in any side. She was calling for O'Neil as was most of that bus. I would be devestated if we got O'Neil - stubborn sod who plays hoof ball - why would he want to join us anyways? Bruce has a job to do so lets let him get on with it. OK rant over. I'd appreciate any views.
Great Post mate. To all the BoBs = let SB get on with the job. He has forgotten more about Football than most of us collectively know. Mind you if he signs Crouch, I will change my name by deed poll to BoB. Bart
I'll hold you to that Mr Simpson LOL I think we should have a whip around on the board to pay for it. LOL FTM
Bart, think you'll find so few people who don't give Bruce their support on matchdays, I can criticise him when I think he's ****ed up, and applaude him when he dies well, but either way as he's our manager I'll be one of the first to cheer when he steps into the dugout. BOB = Bruce Out Brigade. BIB = Bruce In Brigade, Just a joke really mate. BTW MJ good thread.
