Peterborough United v Saints Kick off: 19.45, Tuesday 17th April. Form Saints last six matches: LWDLWW Peterborough United last six matches: LLDWLL Last time out 4-4 - A game of goals, penalties and incidents saw the two former League One rivals share the spoils after Peterborough twice came back from two goals down (Match report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_2/9379655.stm) What the boss says "We play good football and have done ever-so well. Let's focus on the next game, Peterborough - we are looking forward to it. If we win that game it gives us another three points and then we get ourselves ready for the next game after that. We've proven already this season that we can respond if we get an adverse result, that we can go again for the next one. So we've got a lot of confidence in the players we've got, we work very hard for each other and we are looking forward to this exciting part of the season." - source BBC Team news Nigel Adkins' is likely to shuffle his pack with Guly do Prado and Frazer Richardson pushing for inclusion in the starting XI after a flurry of games. Morgan Schneiderlin is highly doubtful while David Connolly and Tadanari Lee are both out. Peterborough will be without Gaby Zakuani and Emile Sinclair is a doubt. David Ball and sharp shooting Lee Tomlin may feature. Coverage Live commentary on BBC Radio 5live sports extra (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/bbc_radio_five_live_sports_extra) Other games of note this Tuesday Bristol City v West Ham United Reading v Nottingham Forest Discussion Southampton are back on the road with their penultimate bus stop of the season at London Road, where Nigel Adkins' men will be hoping for a swift return to winning ways. Saints suffered heart break on Friday as an in form Reading team usurped them at the top of the Championship while Peterborough also had a hard weekend trip to forget away at Elland road. The game screams goals with Rickie Lambert in prolific form and Peterborough high scorers and conceders too. Personally I think Southampton will not panic (they have coped with pressure earlier in the season) and they will get the three points they require to keep them on course for the Premiership next season. Darren Ferguson [Peterborough boss] is unlikely to allow his side to be come complacent, however with an all but safe lower mid table finish secured this match could be a bridge too far for a side with erratic home form, especially after a demoralising game at Leeds last Saturday where Peterborough let a goal lead slip away ending in a 4-1 defeat. However, Saints must not take three points for granted with Peterborough the only side able to halt Reading's meteoric rise in recent weeks beating them 3-1. Can Southampton return to winning ways, will Reading (now that they are top) be able to cope with the pressure having no-one left to chase down and can West Ham fresh from thrashing the Seagulls put the Tuesday night hoodoo to bed and put an in form Nottingham Forest side to the sword in this roller coaster finish to the season?
I have faith in Karma. After todays results we are due a 10-0 Tuesday while Reading and West Ham get battered.
I'm pretty confident we'll win this one. Come on Bristol City! The most positive statement I can possibly make at this time is this: If we and Bristol City both win, we're as good as up.
In addition to this awful day of football, I've also just found out that I have just 7 days to write three crucial 2,000 word essays for the final year of my Law degree, and I've still been able to summon some positivity. Cheer up, you'll probably live longer.
Bristol haven't a chance of beating West Ham, if they do I'll nick and burn my gfs West Ham shirt . But I think we will beat The Posh.
A positive thread?? Well, good luck with that one. I'll kick it off. Nigel hasn't done much wrong yet and I'm pretty confident he'll finish the job here. We were all a bit depressed after the Pompey game but Nige picked the boys up, got a great result at Palace, and all was good. Peterborough are a good side but got a kicking from Leeds today and probably in more ways than one. They've got naff all to play for and probably don't think they've got much chance against a Saints side who will be hungry for the points. Finally, we played excellently against Reading (not that you'd know it from here) and on another day could have won it, and let's face it Reading are the form team in the League and would trouble a number of Prem sides right now. Three game league, three point advantage. Positive enough? Good.
I'm sure we all thought they couldn't beat us Beef. Yet they did twice! They drew with B'ham who drew with West Ham. If they win they could secure us promotion and send Pompey down at the same time. Now that would be nice!
Exactly what I just said on another thread. We all said there would be twists and turns as did Nigel. Keep believing!
Even if we do and West Ham win we will still be just two wins away from the promised land. There does that help?!
