Right folks countdown to a huge game on Saturday. Villa's confidence must be very low after last night but I watched most of it and they did create a lot of chances. Looks like Bent may be out but the big danger for me is Benteke! I'm assuming Adam and Jose will be out but Gaston and Clyne will be back. It's a huge game for Jos but I'm sure he'll be right up for itand will be relishing getting forward for any set pieces. I think we need to get at them from the start as Bradford did. Let's go with Jrod and Rickie up top. Let's cheer the boys onto 3 points and stay away from the bottom 3! COYR
Not sure why, I just have the feeling you set your alarm to write this thread this morning.... Can't see us winning this, Villa will have something to prove on Saturday...
I'm not necessarily expecting a win, but our tendency toward fast starts might serve us well...unlike all of the early leads that we've 'wasted' against good opposition who had the resilience to peg us right back, Villa tends to deflate. Get a goal in the first twenty minutes and stay on the accelerator, we could coast to victory (for once); let them score first and we'll be very much up against it.
NZogbia appears to be trying to prove something too. He is a very good player who can turn a game on his own ... if he fancies it. He'll be a test for young Luke, but I'm confident as the force is strong in him.
Don't give the tabloids ideas...I can just see all of the headlines now: MotM in surprise win over Man City: Luke Sky-Blue-Shocker! Sent off for violent conduct: Luke Thigh-Crocker! Get an endorsement deal with Tesco: Luke Pie-Hawker! Rejects a late-career, big-money move to Al-Ahli: Luke Dubai-Blocker! Becomes a pundit: Luke BSkyB-Talker!
Gotta go for the win here, i know last night was a bit of a one off and they are not actually that bad, but i think we are better than them anyway. If we remove our first 10 games and replace it with current form then we would be ok. So we are getting used to this league and they seem to still be struggling. Kick off and get right at them, i do worry that villa seem like a very jammy team and seem to always score when they do not deserve to, not sure i cant take that kind of thing on Saturday. Also im waiting for the game where it all just comes together for us, hopefully that is Saturday
I'm going to this, and unlike RLGB who is being ridiculously negative, I can see us winning this. Villa are dreadful at the back, it's just a case of taking our chances.
---------------Boruc----------- Clyne----Yoshi------Hoover----Shaw ------Schneid------Cork ------------Gaston----------- Punch-----Lambo------JRod Too attacking?
The team I would pick: ---------------------------Boruc--------------------- ---Clyne/Frazer----Hooiveld----Yoshida----Shaw --------------------Morgan--------Cork------------ -----Puncheon------------Ramirez-----------Guly --------------------------Lambert------------------
i too have a ticket for this one. I hope we have tons of supporters there cos this game is huge for both teams. I think its going to be close , tense. If Villa lose then their fans will be pretty pissed.
Villa are shocking, we should win. But my prediction is them nicking a lucky draw after we dominate the whole game. In typical Saints luck we will concede late and my heart will break.
No Steven Davis? I thought he was fabulous against Arsenal. If Clyne isn't fit, I'd be tempted to leave Cork at RB. If Clyne is fully fit, then Nigel has a selection problem.
I just think Cork is wasted at RB. I know Davis was outstanding against Arsenal but If Clyne isn't fit I think Frazer deserves a chance, and Cork has been outstanding for us since he returned from injury. And we can't leave out Morgan either, so one of Davis and Cork will have to be on the bench.
