Scunthorpe have turned down an offer for midfielder Michael O'Connor from Peterborough. The Iron are battling to keep their Northern Irish star at the club following their relegation to League One and several clubs are interested in signing him. The 23-year-old has become a key player at Glanford Park since his arrival from Crewe Alexandra in 2009. His performances have won him plenty of admirers. Posh wanted to make the first move in an attempt to bring the in-demand star to London Road. They are believed to be the first club to table a bid. The offer was rejected by Scunthorpe, who believe they can get a better deal for the classy playmaker. O'Connor is now into the final year of his deal and rejected a contract extension last month. Posh boss Darren Ferguson is a big fan of the Belfast-born player, but it remains to be seen whether he will return with an improved bid.
