Looks like Mercedes are pulling everybody on board for the "big push" in 2012, where they are hoping to smash through the top 3 team barrier that they have tried hard to battle into for two years.
As well as recently recruiting experienced staff to aid the development of the 2012 car, they have now announced that Puma, a well known sports wear manufacturer, will incorporate their branding for PUMA on the team’s MGP WO3 2012 race car, and on all race and teamwear products.

PUMA will also provide Mercedes GP Petronas with innovative fireproof racewear for the drivers and tech team. As part of PUMA’s long motorsport legacy, PUMA’s development of fire ******ant technology has helped revolutionise driver racewear by dramatically reducing weight, while maintaining optimal performance; safety and comfort.

Ross Brawn, Team Principal at Mercedes GP Petronas commented: “PUMA has a long and successful heritage in motorsport and, having worked with them previously in Formula One, I know their technical performance innovations for racewear are amongst the best in the industry, which is of course critical to our racing operation. PUMA’s global capability to design, develop and distribute licensed products for fans of the Silver Arrows around the world is equally impressive. This is a key partnership for Mercedes GP Petronas, and one we are delighted to have established.”

Christian Voigt, Senior Head of Global Sports Marketing at PUMA said: “PUMA is fully committed to motorsport for the long term, and signing this partnership with the Mercedes GP Petronas team is a major statement for us as a brand. Mercedes-Benz has such a rich heritage in motorsport and Mercedes GP Petronas is an exciting continuation of this story. With such talented drivers and team personnel, it’s clear they are destined for great things in the years to come. Combining our experience in licensed product development and distribution with the brand equity of the team has significant commercial benefits for both parties, and is another strong basis for this new partnership.”

We can’t wait to get started...roll on 2012!

Meanwhile at HRT... "Your name could be here" <laugh>

Are Puma replacing anyone at Mercedes or are they a whole new sponsor?

Also, is that a title sponsor? Its not going to be Puma-Mercedes is it? Nice to see a healthy injection of cash into the sport, shame it had to go to a works team with a healthy income from Mercedes-Benz. Nothing against Mercedes, I'd just like it if Team Lotus, Virgin, Toro Rosso or Williams were announcing large sponsorship deals, to try and close the pack up and create more competitive racing all the way down the grid. Although I guess Puma would only want to sponsor someone with a chance of success.

That would be hilarious.. Puma-Mercedes, you are pretty funny. A large cash injection only works when you know how to use it. So it is up to them to use it wisely.

Could be Henri Lloyd or Graham...

Don't Puma make Ferrari's and Red Bull's race suits?

Hope they make teflon coated racesuits..........

Think Newey joining Mercedes is more likely to have an impact to Mercedes 'big push' than them getting free trainers for a season ;)

If you squint, quite a lot of it looks like Spa, especially the run in from the hairpin (tail) then through Pouhon and back up through Blanchimont!

Haha, and that hairpin at the neck looks a bit like Rivage.

I could throw a loop of string in the air and when it landed it'd be a better track design than Tilke. (or maybe the same?)

You could throw a 2x4 and get a better layout.

I could piss a better track layout into some snow than what Tilke could do.

Haha! I agree ASChris! And it looks an awful lot better than the products of Tilke's one-track mind…

Not sure whether this deserved a new thread but...

Mercedes GP experimenting with F-duct front wing

Sounds interesting, but I'm sure they all have this slot to stop the drivers overheating during the race, using it for something else may upset Schumacher and Rosberg at the hotter races <laugh>

I saw that about the front F duct, but I'm not sure if I believe it, as why would this leak out unless they wanted it to be leaked.

Why would they make this so public, the description is too detailed to be realistic in my opinion.
