So with all the speculation on who we have bid for, looking at, wanting etc, lets look at players/positions we actually have gone after. Clichy- failed attempt, lost out to City. This shows KK wants to bring in a left-back so I believe in the stories we are looking at Enrique, Alvaro P, and Cissokho. Jansen is a new name to the list but still really unsure which of these bids are true or run of the mill. Christian Zapata- failed attempt, lost out to Villareal. I know a lot think our CB's are fine and we have enough youth coming through. Skrtel is starting to look the part, but you can't deny Carra's age, Agger's injury problems, and whether our youth are up to it ( Wilson, Ayala, Wisdom). have not seen really any names touted about and the Zapata one came from left field so this one might be a surprise when we do finally land our man. Pedro Leon- failed attempt, turned us down to stay with los blancos. We brought in Downing and Henderson but is that enough? Mata is a name still out there but wondering if KK thinks we need another winger, I think we should, especially one that might be able to hit the ground running this year. Those are three I can think of right off the top of my head and seem to be the three remaining positions we are looking at with Leon being a winger/3rd striker per se. Any thoughts or players we might be sniffing at for these positions?

Well, are you with his feelings that these are the three positions still yet to be filled? ( CB,LB, and Winger/striker) I know we all agree on the LB but the others are ones that might get split opinions.
I will give an example, some think we need a player who can play on the wing, or be the 3rd striker. Jovetic from fiorentina, especially if they want Aqua. He is someone Rafa wanted and did his homework on. Not just throwing a name out but thinking in terms of out there, not too expensive, realistic, and in this case, their club wants one of ours, etc.
Nicely presented article I don't think some people realise the problems we have at the back.. We only have Skrtel, Carragher and Agger to play there. Carragher may become more injury prone with age and Agger is already injury prone. If we don't buy a left-back thats even worse because then even Kelly can't cover for the centre-backs. If we sign a left-back at least Johnson can return to right-back and Kelly can rotate with Carragher and eventually takeover that position. I think if we start that process now, within two years Kelly will be experienced enough to lead the front line. I hope we can sell on the likes Jovanovic, Poulsen, El Zhar, Degen and any other players who don't have a future at the club then we should sign a centre-back (Scott Dann?) and a left-back (Aly Cissokho). The experience and guaranteed "you know what you'll get" with Dann will be good if Cissokho's "gamble" turns out badly as Kelly can return right-back whilst Johnson goes back on the left. Then we'll have Dann, Agger, Carragher and Skrtel for the centre-back positions. Elsewhere I can't see us buying anyone else although I would have loved Mata and another back-up striker
