I know we can (and will) all disagree about who has done better or worse in the current window, I know that there is time to go yet before it closes but do you guys really think Pardew will stay if he does (as seems likely) get let down by Ashley's broken promises.

When Carroll was sold I am sure I remember a number of quotes from Pardew saying (words to the effect of) "I have been assured that all the funds will be available".

I know Bruce has not spent all of the Bent or the Henderson cash (far from it) but he has not (so far as I am aware) publically stated he had the green light to do so.

How does Pardew remain in place if he has been so publically let down by his Chairman?

Will he resign ? (doubt it as he walks away from a nice earner!)

Would it bother you lot if he did resign?

Who would you want in his place and how would you seek to persuade him to come bearing in mind the reputation Ashley must have across football as a Chairman (I know I look on it with a Sunderland bias).

It seems to me that both squads have weaknesses but that yours are more fundamental than ours (IMO) and that you have a chairman who the manager simply can`t trust.

    Thoughts?

He won't resign , Pardew knew what he was in for when he took the job.

None of this should surprise him like none of this surprises us.

I think you've missed something in all fairness mate, Pardew was employed because he knows Ashley and Llambias personally and they would have made it clear before he got the job that they call the shots and Pardew gets on with it.

He's probably a bit fed up and I doubt he expected the **** to hit the fan as spectacularly as this but he knew when he took the job what he was getting himself into.

The treatment of Hughton was far worse than anything else we've seen from the Mags' board and yet huge numbers of the fans seemed willing to 'put it behind them' and 'wait and see how Pardew does' - I think this has given Ashley licence to **** around some more and expect no real impact (we're already seeing a hefty number of fans taking a revisionist view of Barton).

Pardew is rock-solid with Ashley &co and either through his friendship or some pre-understood terms of his five year contract he'll act as the agent of Ashley's personal agenda. If ever he rocks the boat or Ashley manages to find a buyer that will turn him a profit Pardew will be gone.

Spot on, but we chose to "wait and see" as you put it because it was our only option. The hardened fans such as myself are used to the turmoil and reserve judgement on the ****-storms until we've heard both sides of the story.

What Ashley done to Hughton was inexcusable and many of us knew there'd be more **** to follow. Since then I've always felt like another **** up is just around the corner, we're right in the midst of our latest shenanigans but I'll always support NUFC, I'm sure plenty of others feel the same.

We had years of it with Murray and there is nowt any of us can do about it you're right. Sometimes it seems like Ashley is actually being vindictive though whereas Murry just seemed tight and short-sighted.

I take the OP isn't happy with Sunderland's transfers because to me without wanting to sound negative but its obvious to me that Sunderland have had the better transfer window. the fact we've lost or will lose Barton, Enrique and Nolan.

might have something to do with his family being threatened but who knows as fans of clubs who have had constant **** owners there isn't a lot you can do just keep supporting the team

Too true - have my concerns about where we are at the mo - seem to have less goals in us at the start of this season than we did at the start of last. The loss of Bent was huge to us last Feb-April and whilst we have Whickham and the Dongster neither have any PL experience and we lose Gyan for 6(?) weeks for the African Nations Cup. Lots on our board worried about the absence of a LH side wide man but we will not be the only team in that position (but would be nice and there is paper talk about Adam Johnson who would be great for us). That said we have done better than you boys this window IMO.

That said it`ll all count for nothing when the second saturday comes along!

you've made some canny signings i don't think either team will be in a relegation dog fight but saying that i don't think we'll be pulling up trees either mid table back end of the top 10 again
