Everton have the slight advantage going into the game having won 21 games (40.4%), although Norwich aren't far behind with 15 wins (30.8%) whilst the other 16 (28.8%) all ended in a draw. The largest victory in a league fixture between the two is 4 goals. The first time this happened was 6th December 1986 as Everton ran out 4-0 victors at Goodison park with goals from Neil Pointon, Paul Power, Adrian Heath and a penalty from Trevor Steven. The other time this margin of victory occurred came 26th September 1993 in the second premier league season as Norwich won 5-1 at Goodison Park, despite Paul Rideout giving the blues the lead, Efan Ekoku scored 4 goals before Chris Sutton put an end to the scoring for the canaries. Outside of the league, on the 18th February 1995 Everton won 5-0 in the 5th round of the FA Cup thanks to goals from Limpar, Parkinson, Rideout, Ferguson and Stuart which is the largest victory overall. Norwich's last win against Everton came 19 years ago on 21st March 1994 in a 3-0 victory at Carrow Road following their 5-1 win at Goodison Park. Ian Culverhouse, Chris Sutton and Mark Bowen scored the goals that day as Norwich thrashed Everton for a second time that season. Everton's last win against Norwich came 2nd February 2005 at Goodison Park, as in typical style that season Everton won 1-0, though the only goal came from an own goal by Gary Doherty. The last win at Carrow Road came in the same season 23nd October 2004 in a thrilling 3-2 encounter as Kevin Kilbane and Marcus Bent gave the blues a 2-0 lead which was pegged back with goals from Leon McKenzie and Damien Francis before Duncan Ferguson headed home 18 minutes from the end. Since then there have only been 3 matches which have all come since Norwich were promoted,in the 2011-12 season. All three have ended in draws. Last season at Carrow Road, The match ended 2-2 as Everton were pegged back from leads twice thanks to Wes Hoolahan and Grant Holt whilst Nikicia Jelavic scored a brace for the toffees. This seasons encounter at Goodison Park ended 1-1 as Everton conceded an injury time equaliser as Sebastian Bassong cancelled out Steven Naismith's opener. Why Norwich fans don't particularly like Everton You may or may not know that some Norwich supporters still hold a grudge against Everton after 28 years. in the 84-85 season, having already won the league title, the cup winners cup and lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United, Everton fielded a weakened side which put in a lacklustre performance in a 4-1 defeat at Coventry City in the penultimate game of the season. Norwich City went on to get relegated by 1 point behind Coventry City. There are some Norwich fans who still blame Everton for their relegation that season. Norwich City Norwich started the season horrifically with 4 defeats and 3 points after 7 games before beating Arsenal 1-0 on 20th October 2012. After beating Arsenal they went without defeat for another 9 league games, the last game of the run in a 2-1 home win against Wigan on 15th December 2012. Since that game they've not won a single match having lost 5 games in their last 10 whilst the other 5 ended in draws. Norwich have been struggling for goals of late having scored just 1 goal in their last 6 games. Things have improved defensively however since Bassong returned to the side following their 5-0 defeat at Anfield having conceded just 1 goal in their last 3 games. the last 2 ending in 0-0 draws. The Norwich faithful haven't been blessed with entertainment in the league this season at Carrow Road. The 13 home games have resulted in 5 wins, 5 defeats and 3 draws. Norwich have only scored and conceded 14 goals in 13 home league games too. They have the 7th best home defensive record in the league. They also have the 4th worst home attack in the league. Everton According to the stats, Everton are the 6th most attacking side in away games in the league this season with 18 goals, only bettered by Manchester City (19), Liverpool (22), Tottenham (24), Chelsea (25) and Manchester United (28). Everton Also have the 4th best defence in away games having conceded just 16 goals in 13 games. Swansea (15), Manchester City (13) and Arsenal (11) are the teams ahead. Everton have won 2, Drawn 3 and lost 1 in the league in 2013 and have scored and conceded 7 times. This puts Everton 8th in the current form table showing the distinctly average form the toffees are in which is dampening spirits of a top 4 finish. However, the last premier league defeat to Manchester United was still just the fourth defeat Everton have suffered in the league this season. Victor Anichebe scored his 7th goal of the season against Oldham Athletic in the cup on Saturday in his 20th appearance of the season on his 14th start. In this time he also has 6 assists to his name meaning he's played his part in 13 goals in 20 appearances this season. Should he feature on Saturday, it will be the most appearances he has made in a season since the 2008-09 season (31). This season he has started more matches than in any other season in his career. Everton seem to have lost the impetus they had pre-Christmas and Norwich are always capable of causing an upset - so I am going for a 2-2 draw Hope you dont mind me chipping in!
No probs PGF chip In by all means this aint the Pool board lol We are not playing well but I can't bring myself to predict a draw or defeat we should have stuffed Norwich at home In one of the many games we have thrown away points In so I'm going 1-2 Jelavic to finally score In lol
Must be off the bench then because unless Anichebe is injured then he should start. Barkley (and Lundstrum) scored for the u21s last night in a 2-0 win by the way. I wonder if we will see Barkley on the pitch at any point on Saturday.
No - he is just stating facts. And before you say it, yes you beat us 5-0 today, but while you masturbate over beating our B team, true football fans will continue to talk about football - so f*** off
Yeah, and like you were ejaculating in your pants when Swansea knocked our reserves out of the League Cup. [h=3]Liverpool[/h] 01 Jones 16 Coates 23 Carragher Booked 49 Robinson 10 Cole 14 Henderson 19 Downing 24 Allen 33 Shelvey 11 Assaidi 36 Yesil **** happens deal with it.
Shogs, I feel sorry for you having to put up with these tossers. Never mind, you can console yourself with the fact that you are the number one team in Liverpool
Some of your fans even want Laudrup as manager FFS. It's embarrasing. Anyway this is a Norwich v Everton thread.
wow wow wow... I think the sites had enough of Swansea/Liverpool spats lads. Don't bring it outside your boards.
Oi oi shogs, your all over the threads on our board, whats wrong if me and Gerrez do a bit of surfing on your threads.
and here I came to see the preview for Norwich v Everton not the bloody fallout of another game I couldn't care less about Good effort Shogs and well researched & written, and yes, a good number of City fans still blame Everton for "giving" Coventry three points that day. It was a very painful day for use I can assure you but maybe one day it can be returned in kind I will go for a 1-1 draw but the reality is that we could do with a win just to keep the pack behind us out of reach. Ideally we need 4 more wins this season (maybe 3 will be enough) but I want to see us getting them sooner rather than later
