*Watford V Charlton* 14th September 2013. Vicarage Road Watford 3.00pm Watford midfielder Almen Abdi is fit to face Charlton after recovering from a foot injury. Defenders Nyron Nosworthy (Achilles) and Tommie Hoban (ankle) are the only injury concerns, with Ikechi Anya fit after scoring for Scotland. Charlton can add new signings Cameron Stewart and Ben Alnwick and fit-again Chris Solly to their squad. Right-back Solly has missed the last two matches with a knee injury but is now available. The thoughts of Lewis McGugan. “Charlton will be a tough team, we saw that [with their performances] last year. We have to expect tough games at home this season,” he stressed. “Teams coming to our ground will be quite tight, and waiting for us to make the mistakes so that they can counter off that. We have to expect that, and try to manage the situation. “We look at the first few games, and we maybe need to stretch our form out over a longer period of time – over a 90-minute period rather than a great 45 then a not so great 45, or vice versa. “We have to try and keep up a high level of performance for as long as possible, and see out games in a professional way.” The thoughts of Chris Powell. “They’re a good team and they showed that last year,” said Powell. “We’re going to have to play at full throttle because they’ve had some good results so far this year. We haven’t really done ourselves too much justice so far, but it’s early and I think the Leicester result and performance will have sent our fans away feeling really pleased about their team. I’ve said that to the players. “That full throttle 100 per cent way of playing really is the Charlton way - it’s in our DNA,” continued the Addicks chief
thanks M Frenchie. great thread . Obviously we'll be winning 3-1 tomorrow, gutted i won't be there but i'll be listening to Mr Marks . It's Yom Kippur, but i'm poorly so no football, no synagogue...blinking heck!
Interesting to see that Charlton fans think that Sordell could be on the bench. It doesn't seem as if he is setting the world alight for them. Watch him come back and bite us.
Thank goodness another boring international break is over, and now we are back to proper football. I have to go to Bradford today for a conference, but good luck to the Hornssssssss. 4=0 to us!
The home seating is sold out and Charlton are reporting that they have sold 'most' of their 2,000 seats. Should be a great atmosphere.
I am going for the usual 3-1 victory and back to winning ways. Great thread OFH and hope you feel better very soon H - not seen you for ages!
Today's team: Almunia; Belkalem, Angella, Cassetti; Faraoni, McGugan, Iriney, Pudil; Fabbrini, Forestieri; Deeney. Ekstrand ill & Abdi out with a foot injury...
I see that Lee Williamson came on as sub for Blackburn in the 90th minute - and managed to get a red card.
