The Match Thread Reading 0 v 2 Watford Mark Yeates 12 mÃn. 0:1 John Eustace 51 mÃn 0:2 Attending: 17.128 The Hornets make the short trip to Reading for the first match after the international break looking for their first win of the season. Reading ⢠The Assistant Manager â Nigel Gibbs "The game always adds a little bit to me, but itâs just another three points. They havenât started as well as they would have liked, but itâs another side and we want the three points. Of course we would have liked more points on the board too, but we canât affect that nowâ âWeâre just looking forward to getting three points on Saturday now. There are no easy games, but we always look at performances and judge ourselves and we havenât done as well as we would have liked.â ⢠The Royals Andy Griffin returned from his injury against HullCity, so Reading seem to have no worries. Alex Pierce leads the bad boys with two cautions followed by five others with one. Update on the Readingâs statistics WATFORD ⢠The Manager â Sean Dyche âIt's important that we get some rewards for what we are doing and they have been hard to come by even though we have felt like we have delivered good performances, on the whole that is. I'm not naive. You have got to put it in one end and stop it going in the other - as I mention all the time - and today we were close to doing it the right way.â âThe lads were relentless, they just kept playing and going and playing and going no matter what happened. That is a massively important quality to have as a team. As we saw with West Ham and as we saw today, a lot of those players are Premiership players so to have that belief in how we play today, go about our business and step on, pass and move and open up different avenues to create chances and have them on the back foot â certainly from half time onwards â that is a real strength of character and a real belief in what we do. It shows they have belief and it is easy to band those words about but it is not easy to go out there when you have fans and the result is not going your way so to act the way they did and play the way they did in the second half despite two set backs is absolutely tremendousâ ⢠The Hornets Stephen McGinn is still on injury list, but has started some very light training. Britt Assombalonga and Chris Iwelumo are coming on well from their ankle and hip injuries respectively. Update on the Hornet's latest statistics Who will win? Readingâs recent form is as bad as Watfordâs although they have managed to win one game this season. Watford have finally found out where the goal is but they have still been outscored by 3 to 2 by Reading. Akureyri's Prediction: 0:2 the localâs poor record will continue and the visitors will return to Watford with a win. skál/skÃ¥l/cheers/salut Don't forget The Hornetâs Nest Drop in for some match chat.
Well done again Ak, but I think you are too optimistic here. Watford might get a win if they are very lucky but I see a 1-1 draw. Goals from Rasiak and Graham, that was a couple of years ago.
Top notch AK. As per usual 5*s. I want 3 points, but then again i always do!! I can see it being close.
Excellent as per usual ak, this is the first time in 5 years that I haven't been living in Reading at the time of this fixture
I'm trying to stay pessimistic. I so rarely forecast our scores correctly that if I think we're bound to lose we might actually sneak a win (except you didn't hear me say that)...
I have a feeling it'll be a draw or maybe narrow defeat, but feel it will be close and can see Sordell scoring again.
Nice one as ever Ak...my prediction is 1-2..because we are definitely going to get 3 points, and i think it'll be close
nice work AK. i'm going for watford win by the odd goal. going down to this one so will probably be a heart in mouth kinda match like the last ten mins against brum. By the way AK you might want to update the bit about travellers wanting some info about bristol. But should they want some i'm here to help!
Well if I were to be negative I'd say Reading are due as I can't remember the last time they beat us. That said this also has a history of being a Pools favourite with draws a plenty so I'll plump for 1-1.
With Garner and Weimann on board, Sordell bang in form and Massey knocking them in for the reserves, I think we're capable of stopping the rot. Then again we've dominated and lost to a worse team than Reading at least once this season.
Difficult call on the froward line, hopefully SD will have seen something in the last week of training, who has hit it off together! You just never know
Reading will be playing Alf against us ! I really think we should have pushed harder to get him ! Pointers will be given tomorrow! Cody Mac went to Coventry ! So was Garner our under the radar original choice or a hasty 4th choice!!
Who knows, but we have who we have, and hopefully tomorrow he'll prove worthy...and ALF will show he was over-priced
I'm being an optimist and going for a draw! tbh I think more likely a home win but you never know. What will our line-up be? Up front I can't work out what we would be - I've seen big Chris is back available, Sordell has to start doesn't he? Weimann also - maybe he will be benched? Then there is Garner............ I think that Sordell/Garner/Weimann combo of 2 out of 3 will be our best option eventually with big Chris off the bench. Deeney again unlucky but on the bench due to utility label he now has.
i'll look forward to that! I got my tickets at the shop this morning...we were going to Nottingham for the University open day but my son has decided that Nottingham don't do a course he wants to study, so i'm going to Reading instead..yay!
