    Keeping my promise to Lenny.

I have had plenty to say for myself during the season but I am always prepared to put my hands up and say job well done to Martin Allen and the team.

Quite simply we are the Champions and I have never had the opportunity to say that since supporting the Gills from 1973/74 but today was our day and something I may never witness again going by the 49 year wait to pick up this such trophy.

I even took a long a proper camera today to save the memories from the game, something I rarely do at football match, which I confine more to the plastics of the modern game. But when you get to a certain age you have to be able to relive every moment as though it might be your last. At some point in the near future I will attempt to upload a selected few from the final celebrations of the players.

There is no denying despite my manly desire to hide it there was a tear in my eye. Just to see Martin Allen grace my presence only feet away from me on the touchline was a moment I will never forget. He even gave me that crazy glance across and smile, you would have thought he knew who I was with that MAddog glaze but obviously he did not.

During the season I have discussed our youth policy and names such as Essam and Jackman. My thoughts were made loud and clear but I am no glory hunter, I was there throughout, come rain, wind, snow and shine. I am a traditionalist and supporter of lower league football. I don't hold Scally's dream of Premiership football, I just hold whatever every footballing day brings as a passionate supporter.

Today I met with so many members from not606, you know who you all are and I thank you for making the day special, whether that be through an exchange of beer or words, you keep the heart of football pumping by going out of your way to meet fellow supporters. The fans that in my eyes most deserved their tickets to watch history being made. We accept one another's difference of opinions via social media and respect one another as individuals in our own rights. Whether that be ageing men or the new born blood to support Gills in future years to come. The one thing we clearly share in common is we are Gills Family.

A mention also for alwaysright who has given me the opportunity to follow the Gills away this season. He really is committed to the cause more so than me on the Gills travel.

The site not606 might not have been around for long and may be frowned upon by some but like all sites we consider our support second to none.

But less of my dribble and that just leaves me to say...Thank You, Martin Allen, every player, every backroom member, Paul Scally but more importantly the life blood of our club which is every single supporter. You could not fail to hear that Rainham End roar as you approached the ground with over 11,000 supporters in the stadium for a League Two game. That is special but none more so than being...

    LEAGUE TWO CHAMPIONS.

brb - thanks for your kind words. Shame the queue for drinks was so long. With so many Not606ers present and what with you having a camera you missed out on doing a Not606 photo shoot !

ps - despite your sentiments - it won't stop what I threatened will happen in the Alwaysright Gordon Road Thread in the near future. ( see you next week )

What a season it has been, Im sorry I wasn't able to meet with any of you but my dad always enjoys a drink in the Blues bar catching up with some old former colleagues. Hopefully next season I will be able to join you for drinks in the cricketers <cheers>

What a decent chap you are brb, I'm glad you saw sense in the end. One thing we both agree upon is that Div 1 is probably 'our level'. I for one would be more than happy with a mid table finish next season, although MA will probably have his sights on another promotion. But thats what makes him great and why he's so good for our club. I think Scally is also worth mentioning because I think he's supported MA brilliantly this season.
