Date: 25th Auguest 2011 Time: 15:36 Tranfer window closes: Under 7 Days... Have we left things too late to be able to brinf in 'quality' player(s) that we both a)desperately need and b)would give a much need boost in morale at the club? You would have thought that Wenegr would have some idea as to whom he would bring in shoudl the dpeartures of fabregas, clichya nd nasri occur however i am beginning to wonder weather we have. It takes time, as everyone knows, to sign players. Ittakes even longer to sign players who are valued very highly by their clubs, the types of players that we are calling for. So, with 7 days left is there time to do the deals that we want? Are they even on the agenda at all? What are your thougths as to what will transpire come the 1st September? Wenger's press conferences recently have yielded little hints towards players arriving beyond surface statements of 'we only require quality beyond what we have got' 'im only looking for quality etc etc'. I have the strangest feeling he's going to end the transfer window with what we've got, surely that can't happen! Frimong, jenkinson etc have impressed but they ar enowhere near, i really hope he's not being too focused on the 'potential' as per usual. I am so sick of waiting for players to emerge as class acts only for them to leave because the club isnt going anywhere. Wenger please sign:- centre half, creative midfielder and a forward - if the start of the season has shown anything its that we need a creative midfieder and a striker more than anything!
I think we will definitely see some transfer action before the end of the window. My ideal signings would be Kaka, Hazard, Vertonghen. But who knwos who we will end up with. I do think AW will make movements though.
He may make some bids hoping to get players but under evalute them so they cant actually come. Just think wenger has had some knowledge of the market and what type of players we need. Remember the coup that was arsharvin. He'l get some one and turn them in to world renound players.
Im sure i dont just speak fo rmyself when i say its the waiting for them to turn into world reknowned players thats the problem. We've often seen it happen, but its also gone wrong a few times and thats the issue. what we need is a player thats world class and world reknowned right now to add morale to the club and make an immiediete impact!
Kaka would be the ultimate signing. He is a quality player, but also a big name. He would lift the fans, the club and the team. And he is out of favour at RM so available. He would fit with our style of play, is better than anything we currently have in midfield and financially makes sense due to merchandising etc...
I don't think we will sign any more players b4 31 Aug. As you say they've left it too late........deliberately. What we should demand to know is where is that £70 Mill gained from the transfers going to go, if its not spent on new players. Stan's back pocket presumably.
They havent left it too late. We (and the papers) have no idea what dealings are being done, many of which will take time. People often think these signings are wrapped up in a week like on computer games. Just a few things to consider: Club A wants to buy player Club B wants to sell player Player wants to leave (not always his choice but he probably has a say) Bidding wars will often develop A deal has to be done keeping all parties interest's happy and there will be complicated legal dealings The player will have to relocate, often with a family Medicals etc Now tell me, how quickly can all that be done? Many of these 'quick' signings you see by Chelsea, Liverpool etc will have been going on in the background for ages, sometimes before the window has opened (yes, I'm sure it happens) Take Mata, Chelsea wait until he/Valencia agrees a best offer with us, then give more. Avoids all that part for Chelsea and appears a quick agreement to the outside world.
Well aware of all that but still don't think we'll sign anbody, Wenger's latest comments indicate he is happy with what he has. be delighted to be proved wrong tho'
Well, I guess we can all live in hope. It's really nail-biting and too close for comfort. I doubt if we would get anyone in before the trip to see Sir Alex and thank him for the recent show of support. Like everyone here I was hoping we would have buttoned this up by now. Know what's astonishing? The press are now linking us with Wesley Sneijder. Fat chance I reckon. Based on last night, my own personal priorities would be an AM, DM, CB and striker. If only life were that simple...
