After the recent news that Joey Barton is being allowed to leave Newcastle United for free, could it be KK is waiting for something similiar to happen to Jose Enrique? The decision led to Joey Barton having a 'outburst', thing is, that was after, Enrique has already had a dig at the Newcastle United board. Maybe we're waiting for him to placed on the transfer list, maybe not for free but for a cut-down price? Personally I think if Newcastle don't make any announcement regarding Jose's future we might bid and if they ask for the quoted £15million we might go for Aly Cissokho. On a side note I think Barton might be a good signing. He has commitment and was crucial to Andy Carroll at Newcastle and would be good cover for Lucas. Then we could loan out Jay Spearing and get him some experience without worrying every game what we'll do if Lucas gets injured. On another side note Arsenal have allegedly had a bid for Juan Mata rejected, finally a team has made a move for the winger and hopefully we'll actually bid for him because it seems Valencia might be willing to negotiate on the price. Thoughts?
weve got enough central midfielders, pretty much all of which id rather have than barton, so no to that
Do not rate Joey Barton at all. He is another overrated Englishman who is seen to be 'technical' because he compared to other British players who, as we all know are not technically gifted. On top of that, he is a scum bag and should be locked up. I think we'll land Enrique very soon, Kenny knows we need to strengthen the defence (starting with the left back position). Will take Mata any day of the week but it seems unlikely.
1. barton is'nt the subject of the op's point yes? 2. enrique has one year left on his deal. thats is a fact, as is his outburst. the other less than certain rumours about him wanting to go to arsenal are just that. rumour. No way can newkie ask 15mil for a player in the last yea rof his deal. ergo.... 5-7mil max... and the fee is dropping every day it goes on. 3. I feel we need to see 2-3 players go out to free up the wages before anything gets done. stand by for awful positional sense from insua... 4. mata is a moot point, i cannot see us bidding as we bought downing. simple for me this one.
Barton is a good player but the potential discontent that he may bring would make him a dangerous signing for any club.
Hopefully we'll get a chance to see Mata up against Premier League defenders. Enough is made about Aqua not being able to handle the Premier League, too much time on the ball, blah blah blah. No to Barton. He's 29 this year and not a must-have.
Can't see Enrique being let go cheaply. He's already been fined by Newcastle and is probably one of their better players so would command a significant fee. Can't see Newcastle letting him go for less than £10M.
1. Liverpool are not signing Joey Barton as they need another central midfielder as much as they need Hicks and Gillett back. They are off-loading midfielders, not signing them. 2. Apparently Newcastle would be willing to accept £6 million for Jose Enrique. This is the last report I read. 3. I reckon we should leave the Juan Mata thing alone until we qualify for the champions league. We're only in phase one of our renaissance. 4.If we could get Aquilani off our books to AC Milan for £15 million,we should re-invest it in Gary Cahill who is the right age, has experience and the size and the consistency to make us even more formidable.
Next year, although he'll likely sign a new deal if he doesn't leave this summer. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23974927-arsenal-are-weighing-up-new-juan-mata-bid.do "Arsenal are expected to make an improved offer for Juan Mata after the midfielder's father and agent suggested the Gunners made a bid which fell short of his £18million release clause. Manager Arsene Wenger has been tracking the 23-year-old all summer and reports had suggested Valencia were ready to trigger an agreement that Mata could leave if a foreign club matched his buy-out fee. But that clause expired yesterday as Mata entered the final year of his contract and Juan Manuel Mata Rodriguez claims Valencia turned down Arsenal's bid, thought to be around £14m"
Interesting. From Mata's point of view it could be worth him stalling on talks until the the end of the season, he'll really be in pole position then. I don't see why players who are being linked with moves away would sign a contract extension in their final year when if they wait they can make a better decision aswell as dare I say commanding a higher wage (The team are likely to accept to just keep the player) If he does wait and we qualify for the Champions League that would be interesting because he'd be available for free. If I was his agent I'd advise him to sit tight and watch Liverpool very closely aswell as putting in 110% into all his games
Rumours on the Newcastle board and Twitter are saying that we have agreed a £7m fee for Enrique. Thoughts? EDIT: Also some talk on the Newcastle board about one of our players going up to Newcastle. Maybe Spearing or N'Gog?
Well for £7m that ain't bad. I'd find it difficult to turn that down unless Aly Cissokho is totally out the question. On subject about Spearing and N'gog I would only agree if it was a loan only
I've heard rumours ranging from £6m and 60k a week to £7m and 70k a week. Seems strange that £15m was talked about a few months back.
If Liverpool went in straightaway Mike Ashley would probably have held out for the best price at the latest possible time. This way he sweats as no one makes a bid aswell as having to deal with the possibility of a player leaving for FREE because his in the final year of the contract and unlikely to re-sign following an outburst on twitter which critized the club. Clever play if true by KK.
Found a few solid links now regarding Enrique. Price seems to vary between newspapers though, which makes me think it isn't a 100% done deal: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Liverpool-Newcastle-Jose-Enrique-5million-article780294.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2021737/Joey-Barton-followed-Jose-Enrique-Newcastle.html?ito=feeds-newsxml
