...And I hope some other fans see the light and consider what I have to point out before jumping on the inevitable bandwagon.

Just because Joey is available for free it doesn't mean he HAS to go. If he leaves it's because he wants to, not that there's anything wrong with that and I understand his position, but he should have been honest and said he wanted out OR kept his mouth shut. If he doesn't leave then hats off, he's as good as his word. Leaving the club would make him worse than Carroll in my eyes, because he stirred so much **** before doing so and manufactured the move himself.

Don't get me wrong, this really could be the final straw as far as Ashley and Llambias are concerned and I blame them solely for wrecking the most important factor in our successful return to the Premiership, team spirit. The sooner MA sells up and moves on for good, the better.

But just remember, if Barton (or Jose for that matter) moves clubs then he's moving on and will mark the end of a chapter in his career. We, the deluded and infinitely patient, will be left picking up the pieces, maybe even for years to come.

By all means protest, cancel your season tickets, stop buying merchandise or get the bed sheets and spray paint out but please, restrain yourselves and see what Barton's next move is before we appoint him as a martyr.

Please share your thoughts, I hope someone agrees because my head is going to ****ing explode.

No one wants to work for them, like I said in the OP I really can't blame him for leaving BUT it makes his past several weeks of Twitter arse/badge licking embarrassing and phoney if he does.

I agree, wouldn't blame him if he left though. The problem is out team spirit (which you eluded to) is in the process of being destroyed, and something needs to be done to improve it

I wouldn't blame him for leaving if he does!

Carroll claimed he was forced out, we all called bullshit.

Barton IS being forced out, first he is told he will be offered a contract at the end of the season, then he is told he won't be offered one, now he is told they want him gone ASAP for free.

Carroll, Nolan and Barton, all forced out.

I agree I agree, don't let's cause a brain induced mess. Barton has been spewing out the most transparent PR recommended compliments to Newcastle and NUFC fans I've seen in years. It seems very obvious to me that he isn't keen on staying but wants very much for his reputation to remain intact. He wants rid of the thug/arsehole image and what better way to do that than be 'martyred' as a dedicated and loyal player for the most dedicated and loyal fans in the league.

Don't get me wrong either, he is a fantastic player, one of our very best last season and I'm by no means a fan of Mike Ashley and Llama's Arse who are enormously clueless bellends when it comes to football. But it just seems extremely plain to me that Barton is engineering his way out as best as he can, keeping him rep as clean as possible and the NUFC owners have basically called his bluff (to quote the new legend around here Clarence Acuna) and forced him to 'prove' how dedicated he really is now that he is free to **** off to essentially any club in the league.

<applause> Blimey some sense at last.

Edit: Although I will point out that IMO it would be even more detrimental to the team if people were to protest. But people gotta do what's right for them.

Barton loves this club and the fans. He knows he owes us. And he is happy up here and playing for us. He wants to stay.

    I agree with this.

It seems I'm one of the few that still likes Andy Carroll and wants him to do well. I think Nolan, Barton and Carroll have all been on the end of ****e management from the owners.

I'm not so sure mate, sounds like the Twitter thing may be, as mentioned, purely PR.

I really can't stress enough that I agree with what he's saying and I wholeheartedly understand why he'd want to leave. I want to leave my job at the moment because my boss is an utter **** but it's the manner in which he's buttering the fans up.

Actions (or lack of them in this case) speak louder than words. If he stays he'll still have my utmost respect but if he goes, he'll lose every shred of it.

I agree 100% with this. Carroll is a cracking player and i'd welcome him back. Nolan and Barton obviously are never returning(if Barton goes). But I still think they've been mistreated by our club.

Joey was almost always the last player off the field and always acknowledged the crowd.

If good offers come in for him and he stays with us, then damn well good for him and I'll accept that. But I just find it ridiculously unlikely. He even strategically placed the odd "Well.. you know if a Champions League side offered me a place I'd consider it" sentence amidst piles of needless compliments to excuse himself if the opportunity arose.

I understand why people think he is just kissing the fans arses to keep a reputation in tact etc. But Joey Barton is different to the majority of footballers. He is an intellectual and even Piers Morgan pretty much admitted he was the most intelligent footballer he'd had banter with! I think Joey is genuine in what he says and he always has been one to speak his mind.

I too don't mind Carroll or Nolan, if you were offered a better deal you'd take it and rightly so. They were without doubt told to do one by the club which may well be the case with Barton, but neither Carroll or Nolan spewed out controversial, disruptive and unprofessional Tweets or upset the dressing room before they left. They kept quiet, took the plunge and left. Fair play to them.

Exactly AB. He genuinely has love for this club and its fans.

Well he has rejected anything linking him with the current champions? He knows he owes us. I would no way hold it against him if he took the chance to play in the champions league!

That's just his personality though. He may have grown up but he will always speak his mind. The man is a natural leader. He wants to stay at the club, he doesn't need money, so he speaks out when people try and force him out.

Edit: At least he's been consistently critical and let us know what's happening unlike Jose who went on a huge rant out of the blue!
