    Tuesday 11th Feb 19:45

Match officials - Referee Martin Atkinson, Assts S Long and S Childs, 4th R Madley

OK so we move onto Hull on Tuesday with Saints unbeaten since New Years Day. A draw or a win will take us up above Newcastle into 8th. The Geordies dont play Spurs at home until Weds.

Hull have had a decent season but have been fairly inconsistent. That said they have strengthened in the window and both their forward signings Long and Jelavic scored in their 2-0 win yesterday away at Sunderland. They need a win to pull away from relegation fears.

For Saints its time we started making better use of all our possession. We are dominating games but not putting away enough chances. Not sure there is much scope to change things though. Dejan and Gaston are still out and with Gallagher on compassionate leave the team virtually picks itself. Only question is whether Vic should play instead of Jack to shore things up at the back?

I think we will go with

    Boruc

    Chambers Fonte Maya Shaw

    Morgan Vic

    Jrod Davis Adam

    Rickie

Subs KD Clyne Jos Cork JWP Guly Isgrove

Let's hope we can keep our unbeaten run going. COYR!

I miss midweek games....doesn't do to give our fans too much time between matches. Left to our own devices, we'd have decided Saints are the worst team in the world by next Saturday. Hull must be very pleased to be midtable at a time when half the EPL could still be relegated. They've kind of snuck up on us (though 9 points adrift). Team virtually picks itself (barring injuries)...just the Cork/Wanyama decision...probably Cork....and Chambers/Clyne...may go for Chambers if fit.

Gallagher due to be in training on Monday...but cannot expect him to be involved.

    1. We always lose when you do the match thread :)

    2. Harsh to leave Jack out, but first half yesterday was crying out for Vic to plug the gaps - glad I'm not the manager! Is Huddlestone available, because if so and we give him the same space Charlie Adam had in the first half then I would maybe play Vic. Can we do roll on roll off subs depending on how he game goes?

    3. You spelled Hull wrong in the title :)

Vic back in the starting line up please. This is going to be a tough game in tough conditions so this game is made for Wanyama.

Not aimed at you, Tom, but people were calling for Wanyama's head after the Fulham game. Now I notice people want him back because we got a draw against Stoke. As you pointed out, he may suit one game more than another. I think he's a player that takes a few games to settle in (unlike Cork who landed running)...there's the conundrum, I want him to play a few games before he's allowed on the pitch in a game (puzzler).

These long words can be so difficult, can't they? Better practice should we get into Europe and play Borussia Monchengladbach.

    Greetings.

At yours, you were about the best team we've played so far so I reckon we owe you one.

Do you play much different in away games?

    Safe journey to any travelling.

It's a valid point Fran. He needs to be fit to play. I'd still want to try the mercurial three in one game; why not Hull. None of the Cork, Davis, Morgan have earned being dropped but this could be a good game to give Steve a rest and try those three. Surely MP understands my desire to try it; does he not take any notice of my letters and emails?

Not so you'd notice. Apart from Tuesday...hope you keep up your progress and stay away from the dogfight behind you.

Not really. We haven't quite hit the heights of the Hull game since then. Patches against Cardiff and Fulham away and a very good performance v Arsenal but I think yours was the last time we really rocked it.

I'm just gutted that I now can't go due to US work visitors here with me Monday or Tuesday.

    Think we'll lose.

So a fair chance we'll win.

We generally play exactly the same away as we do at home. The main difference is that our fans make a lot more noise away.

Buying two strikers in the window was a good move by Mr Bruce.

I think we normally look a bit more open when attacking away from home, but maybe that's just me.

Perhaps the opposition come out to play more at their own ground and therefore give us more opportunities.

Yes, still think Long could have done a job for us at the price they got him as well.
